I must admit, of all the celebrities that exist, David Beckham is not usually on my radar. I know he plays soccer (or football, if you’re fancy), I know he is married to Victoria Beckham (or Posh Spice, if you’re fancy), and I think he is knighted? But most of all, I know there is a movie called Bend It Like Beckham, so I assume he also bends things in a very signature kind of way. But as tied to soccer as Sir David Beckham may be, he is now branching out and collaborating with an entrepreneur, Shaun Neff (the guy behind Sun Bum and BÉIS), to create honey-based fruit snacks for kids under the brand name BeeUp.
Why fruit snacks? Why honey? Why David Beckham? Sorry, Sir David Beckham?
Well, as it would turn out, Sir David Beckham got really into beekeeping during the pandemic (who knew?), a hobby he did with his sons, and is thus very excited about the various nutritious properties of honey as a sweetener. He is also a father of three and a big supporter of kids staying active, so he wanted to provide a wholesome snack for families “through busy mornings, after-school sports, and everything in between.” Basically, these honey-based fruit snacks are meant to replace the fruit rollups as the post-soccer game snack (don’t worry though, I’m sure the pretzels and orange slices are here to stay).
So what flavors of David Beckham’s fruit snacks are we getting? Looks like BeeUp fruit snacks will come in three varieties: Very Berry, Tropical Mix, and Sour Watermelon, all of which are non-GMO, use no artificial flavors, are free from synthetic dyes, and contain Vitamins A, C, and E. Basically, these are honey-based, vitamin-enhanced fruit snacks, so hey, color me intrigued (with non-synthetic dyes, of course)!
Each box comes with ten packs of fruit snacks and will set you back about $4.99. If you are reading this and are already raring to BeeUp your fruit snack game, then you are in luck because these hit stores last week at Target and on the brand’s website, BEEUPsnacks.com. So you can get out there right the heck now and see what all the ~buzz~ is about. And who knows, maybe these will allow you to Beend it like Beeckham!!*
*This is not a claim they make on the packaging. I’m just curious if maybe these fruit snacks will magically make me a soccer star…the jury is still out, stay tuned.
