Dippin’ Dots Is Getting into the Energy Drink Game

In the caffeinated space, it really takes a lot to get me to blink at a product announcement. “We’re bringing back Jolt Cola as an energy drink.” Sure! “There’s a caffeinated extra-lemony Sprite in Australia.” Okay! “This chocolate milk has more caffeine per ounce than Red Bull.” Why not?

That said, getting a notification about a new Dippin’ Dots energy drink certainly raised an eyebrow. Yes, the madmen at ADVANCED.gg just launched an energy drink mix based on Dippin’ Dots Rainbow Ice. Nearly every piece of this puzzle will take some explaining; let’s get into it.

What is ADVANCED.gg?

ADVANCED.gg is a supplement company that produces a wide range of drink mixes (not all of which are caffeinated, if that’s your concern). Between the quality, variety of flavors, and transparent ingredient labeling, these guys are the real deal. We actually covered their line of Kung Fu Tea hydration drink mixes recently… just in time for them to launch a new “Rosehip Lemonade” flavor, rendering that coverage ever so slightly out of date.

Is mixable powder really a popular format for energy drinks?

Surprisingly so! There are a few different reasons the powdered format has increased in popularity over the last few years. The cost-per-serving is definitely a better value than buying ready-to-drink products, the powder tubs or mix packets are more portable than a case of drinks, and the ability to mix flavors together leads to nearly unlimited flavor combinations. Since each scoop of ADVANCED.gg’s Energy mix contains 100mg of caffeine, I usually combine it with a scoop of their non-caffeinated Hydration mix to make a larger drink with the same flavor intensity and less caffeine per ounce.

What flavor is Dippin’ Dots Rainbow Ice?

Per the brand’s website, Rainbow Ice Dippin’ Dots are “A Colorful Blend of Strawberry, Orange, Lemon, Lime & Blue Raspberry Ices.” The product listing for ADVANCED.gg’s Dippin’ Dots Rainbow Ice Energy mix confirms they’re aiming for the same mix.
