How Much Caffeine Is in Your Favorite Pick-Me-Up?

Yes, yes, caffeine is a drug and if we’re being totally honest it’s probably not the best thing in the world for us. Still, any negative side effects are typically quite minimal and there are many of us who swear by the stuff, myself included. A world without caffeine is one I don’t want to live in. But the truly caffeine crazed, or the caffeine conscious, may be wondering how much of this wonderful stuff is in these classic energy boosting beverages. Let’s take a look, drink by drink. (By the way, as a comparison point, an 8-oz cup of coffee contains around 95 mg of caffeine.)

First the sodas (and one soda-adjacent product):

How Much Caffeine in Arizona Green Tea?

There is 22.5 mg of caffeine in the tall boy, 24-oz version of Arizona Green Tea (the only size worth mentioning), making it a relatively low-caffeine drink. But don’t forget about that ginseng!

How Much Caffeine in Mountain Dew?

A particularly pep-heavy player in the soda game, Mountain Dew (or Mtn Dew, these days) contains 54 mg of caffeine per 12-oz can.

From here, we get into the energy drink category. Unsurprisingly, these drinks pack a significantly higher wallop when it comes to caffeine (though they’re usually lower in sugar).

Bang Energy typically comes in a 16-oz can, and within that there are 300 milligrams of caffeine. That’s almost nine Cokes, which is more Cokes than I would recommend drinking in one sitting.

So there you have it, the complete caffeine collection. As you can see, caffeinated beverages come in all shapes, sizes, and intensities. Don’t think that replacing your Dr Pepper with a Rockstar is going to give you the same level of energy. It won’t!

Whatever pick-me-up you imbibe, be sure to check the label to ensure you aren’t getting more caffeine than you bargained for. Enjoy!
