Discontinued Cereals We Wish Would Come Back

We’re no stranger to nostalgia. And food nostalgia really causes a craving sometimes. So we looked into our childhoods and went to Reddit to see what some of the most wished for cereals are that we’d like to see make a comeback.

Rice Krispie Treat Cereal

I remember this one. It was so good. It was better than just the standard Rice Krispie. It had the added sweetness from the marshmallow and oh man. It was a sweet breakfast treat. Now I’m sure the sugar is part of the reason why it went away, but we still see plenty of cereals with marshmallows so I see no reason why this couldn’t have stuck around as well. It was unbeatable and Reddit agrees. Across the many threads I looked at, this was by far one of the most desired cereal returns. If you are one of the ones who want this to return, there’s even a petition for Kellogg’s to bring this cereal back. 

Mini Wheats with Strawberry Jam

Now I only vaguely recalled these. But that’s probably more because I was content with just regular frosted mini wheats so I didn’t venture out to try the jam filled. But the jam filled variate seems to have really stuck with some people as many would love to see it come back. And really, I could totally see it. The crispy crunch of the mini wheat with tangy strawberry jam? I clearly missed out on something great as a child. 

Cap’n’Crunch Sprinkled Donuts

I wasn’t the Cap’n’Crunch one in the house. That was my sister. I preferred Pops. But she loved all of the Cap’n cereals. When I asked her about this one, she waxed poetic about it for a good five minutes. I was curious why I had never tried it, but given her reaction, I fear that it may not have lasted long enough in our house for me to ever try. She was very into her cereal (even if she does it wrong by pouring the milk first). 

Waffle Crisp

Now this I remember. I was a big fan of Cookie Crisp and French Toast Crunch (which I was so happy when that came back). So it was a slam dunk that I would like Waffle Crisp. It was sweet and lightly syrupy. It was like waffles with somehow crunchier and a little better honestly. Plus no sticky syrup mess. This would be a great comeback cereal, especially since French Toast Crunch already came back. Why not this other breakfast mashup cereal?

King Vitamin

Now this one has a very divided opinion. Either you loved it or you hated it. There was no in-between. In any conversation about old cereals, King Vitamin is showing up. It was a corn and oat cereal. I never had it. But I think I’d be in the dislike camp. It doesn’t sound good. It feels a little like it was trying to mimic Rice Krispies. But everything has its fans and this one is no exception. This one deserves a comeback so we can all finally decide if it’s worth the reputation or not.
