There was a time when having a Stanley became a little bit of a status symbol (although exactly what kind of status it was symbolizing, we’re not totally sure – a symbol of staying really hydrated, perhaps?). Now, though, let’s be honest: None of us wants to pay that much money for something that carries your drink around. Yeah, Stanleys might look good, but they’re expensive. Methinks a dupe beckons…a dupe that can do the same thing, for less money, and still looks good.

What’s that? There’s a dupe just like that? That’s right! Our fave budget store, Dollar Tree, is stocking a Stanley dupe that will set you back a mere $1.50. Here’s the lowdown.
$1.50? Really?
Yep. $1.50. Each Dollar Tree Sipper Tumbler With Handle (not the most creative name, but we’ll take it) costs barely anything – BUT, there’s a catch. For now, at least, it looks as though you can only buy them in bulk, and you have to buy a minimum of 12. That may change at some point, and certain stores may stock them individually (although it looks like you can currently only order them online), but until then, you might have to think about who you can give them to as a gift, or just buy yourself a steady supply of them.
Even if you bought 24 of these suckers, though, they’d still be cheaper than the standard price of a Stanley Quencher (which, admittedly, are often on sale). These mugs cost $45 as a standard price. They are a touch sleeker than Dollar Tree’s model, but when you consider that they have almost exactly the same dimensions and can hold an identical amount of liquid, it feels odd that you’d stump up for a Stanley in these hard times. Pick one up along with those delicious Dollar Tree drinks, and you’re good to go.
The Year of the Tumbler
Stanleys and other tumblers haven’t gone anywhere, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they feel a bit more prominent this year. People seem to be falling in love with these drink vessels anew, maybe because companies are starting to do more interesting things with them. REDUCE, for example, makes a margarita tumbler that the internet has recently crowned a smash hit. Now we just need one shaped like a champagne flute, and we’re good to go (stranger things have happened, people).
Dollar Tree, meanwhile, continues to go from strength to strength in our estimations. The low-cost store just recently started selling our favorite seasonal Kit Kat flavor, the Lemon Crisp Kit Kat, which arrives juuust in time for Easter – and it’s always a haven for some cheap groceries. And now it has cheap Stanley dupes, too. What more could you want?
