This New Dolly Parton Baking Mix Sounds Cozy as Heck

Are you tired of summer? Of the endless sweltering heat? Of working nine to five (what a way to make a living)? Well, tumble out of bed, stumble to the kitchen, and pour yourself a cup of milk, because fall is almost here and an autumnal new product is joining the line of Dolly Parton baking mixes from Duncan Hines: Pumpkin Spice Cookie Mix. So break out your baking sheets, cozy sweaters, and all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls (and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life) and fall into fall with style…and cookies.

Will these new Dolly Parton cookies taste like spice cookies? Like pumpkin? Will they be crunchy or chewy? And most importantly, will they take my man (even though I am begging of them not to)?

All important things to be sure. From what I can tell from the box, these look a lot like spice cookies with their tan crinkly tops, but it’s unclear if that orange tinge means we will taste the pumpkin, see the gourd but not taste it, or imagine we are seeing it but really it’s food coloring. The flavor name is “pumpkin spice” and not “pumpkin,” so if there is no real squash in there, I won’t be too torn up about it. Different story if they left out cinnamon, though—I’d probably be actively angry. And here is the part I am most stoked about: These bad boys are confirmed to be soft and chewy rather than crunchy, according to the packaging. I don’t know about you but I love a good chewy cookie. I don’t hate crunchy cookies, I just don’t prefer them (because they are objectively worse, but that is an argument for another time). The point is, these look like they will be lovely, chewy, decadent fall spice cookies, potentially so good they will take my man.

Now for the deets: A package of mix makes 24 cookies (notably way more than nine to five), and if you were wondering what you are expected to provide (aka the wet stuff that goes in the cookie powder), it looks like this mix will set you back only an egg and a half cup of melted butter. They bake up in 15-ish minutes and then—voilá – fall in cookie form. These new Dolly Parton Pumpkin Spice Cookies are available now at retailers nationwide, and (presumably) around the end of summer bonfires and cozy fall kickoff parties everywhere, and we cannot wait to try them and let you know our thoughts…and whether, in the end, they take our man.
