There are plenty of soda-inspired desserts out there, but this one might be one of the most tempting yet. Portillo’s has teamed up with Dr Pepper for a limited-time treat that combines a thick, creamy vanilla shake with the famous soft drink’s signature blend of all of its flavors.

Portillo’s is also giving fans the option to turn the drink into one of its legendary Cake Shakes by blending in a slice of its famous chocolate cake.

Milkshake With All 23 Signature Flavors

Portillo’s just launched the new, limited-time Dr Pepper Shake and Dr Pepper Cake Shake so fans can drink their Dr Pepper and eat their Portillo’s Shake at the same time.

The new Dr Pepper Shake starts with Portillo’s signature vanilla shake before it’s blended with the famous flavors of Dr Pepper. According to the restaurant, the shake combines all 23 signature Dr Pepper flavors into every sip, creating a mix that’s sweet, fruity, slightly spicy, and unlike any other soft drink. It’s the kind of dessert that feels familiar while still bringing something completely new to the menu.

For fans who like their treats extra rich, Portillo’s is also serving the new Dr Pepper Cake Shake. It takes the same Dr Pepper Shake and blends in an entire slice of the chain’s famous chocolate cake. So you have a thick, chocolatey dessert with plenty of creamy Dr Pepper flavor in every sip.

Why Dr Pepper Works So Well In A Shake

Putting soda into ice cream isn’t exactly a new idea. Root beer floats have been around for generations, and plenty of people have poured Dr Pepper over vanilla ice cream at home. This new shake takes that idea and gives it a creamy upgrade.

The new Dr Pepper Shake and Dr Pepper Cake Shake officially landed at participating Portillo’s restaurants on August 4th and will only be available for a limited time through September, while supplies last.

There’s one small problem, or a bit of an odd quirk at least: the drinks won’t be sold at the Portillo’s location inside Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, so travelers hoping to grab one before a flight will have to look elsewhere.
