Flamin’ Hot Mountain Dew Is Back and It’s Inviting People to Hell

If you’re interested in trying Flamin’ Hot Mountain Dew (or “MTN DEW FLAMIN’ HOT” as they say in the biz), you can go to Hell…Michigan. No, seriously, Mtn Dew is holding a giant kickoff event for the return of the infamous flavor in Hell, Michigan, which is a real place with an unfortunate name and a surprisingly cold climate.

It’s all going down in Hell this Saturday, April 30, at a giant event called (and I swear I’m not making this up) “To Hell with MTN DEW FLAMIN’ HOT.” The event will feature music (by DJ Pauly D of Jersey Shore fame), a putt-putt golf course, a saloon (for 21+ folks) with drinks inspired by Mtn Dew Flamin’ Hot, and a four-course meal by chef-rapper (or rapper-chef?) Action Bronson. The meal will supposedly bring the “doubly fiery pairing of MTN DEW FLAMIN’ HOT and FLAMIN HOT® snacks to life in a four-course spicy meets sweet menu that’s bold as hell.” As a Flamin’ Hot Cheetos fan myself, I would like to try this “bold as hell” menu, but alas with travel prices being what they are these days—and also the very short notice—looks like I’m not going to make it to Hell. If you do happen to be in the area, however, the company said in a press release that “admission is free and you can find [the party] here – 42.4338° N, 83.9845° W. At least until the bars close at midnight.” So maybe drop into Hell and check it out?

Now, this may seem like a lot of hype for the re-release of a soda flavor. But keep in mind that the last time they released this flavor a year ago, it sold out in less than an hour. That is a heck–excuse me–hell of a lot of excitement.

Given all that hype, what does it actually taste like? While it seems some people think it’s the worst Mtn Dew flavor ever invented, others love it and claim that it tastes like when you put (a delicious and zingy salty chili lime topping from Mexico) on a piece of ripe fruit or in a cocktail. Others say it kind of just tastes like a slightly spicy lemon-lime soda (in a good way). Guess to find out we’ll all have to go to Hell. Or, you know, a local grocery store, because it’s being sold there too.

Is It Hot in Here or Is It Just the 7 Best Spicy Chips?

Spicy chips have more of a cult following than John Waters films, and the music of the Grateful Dead combined. People are obsessed with the spicy, crunchy snack and almost every single chip company is creating their own line of hot chips to keep up with the craze.
