Three words: Butterfinger French Toast.
We love Butterfingers. When Marie Kondo mentions “sparking joy,” we think about rifling through our trick-or-treat haul and seeing that oblong yellow wrapper like a beacon of sunlight, singing the siren song that is the sound of us sinking our teeth into sheets of crispy peanut butter, never caring if we leave a dusting of crumbs all over our laps.
We also love French toast. Comforting and sweet and soft, the syrup soaked pillows of custard and bread are a socially acceptable way to eat bread pudding for breakfast, but hit just as right at a late night diner, right alongside a carved turkey dinner and gyro pizza.
So, we were really excited about the French Toast Butterfingers. Duh. We like to go through life with a healthy bit of skepticism, but we’ve actually tried this candy bar, and it held up. Whoever said “never meet your heroes” needs to try this candy bar. And go to therapy.
What is it?
The “morning’s-favorite-flavors” take on a candy classic delivers what it promises: chocolate coating surrounding ribbons of maple and cinnamon interwoven with Butterfingers’ classic leaflets of crispy peanut butter. It’s like a Rolodex where there’s peanut butter instead of paper and there’s the essence of French toast instead of your parents’ travel agent’s fax number.
When and where to find it
The candy bar collab is available at major retailers nationwide now through April, but the dream team doesn’t stop here!
Dominique Ansel gets in on the action
Butterfinger has partnered with James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Dominique Ansel (of Cronut fame), to concoct a Dominique Ansel Bakery exclusive. February 27th through March 1st, the SoHo, NY bakery will offer a Butterfinger French Toast Croquembouche. The tower of cream puffs will feature three flavors: peanut butter caramel, maple cinnamon, and Butterfinger. And they say dreams don’t come true!
