The best breakfast burritos in the freezer aisle are the ultimate shortcut to a satisfying breakfast on the go. They’re ready to eat in a few minutes flat (as long as you have a microwave), and they’re stuffed with all of the warm, gooey ingredients you love. Yes, “warm, gooey ingredients” might seem kind of vague, but as we learned in our two separate breakfast burrito taste tests, breakfast burritos can contain almost anything. We even found a vegan breakfast burrito that’s totally egg free!
That said, the best frozen breakfast burritos should all start with the base of a scramble. That scramble can be made of eggs or tofu. Then, there should be at least two other fillings. Those can be meat, veggies, cheese, or beans. Whatever! And most important of all? All of those ingredients should be wrapped in a tortilla that isn’t solid as a rock. No matter what your frozen breakfast burrito preferences are, I am convinced that there’s a breakfast burrito for you in the freezer section of your grocery store. These are the five best frozen breakfast burritos we found in a pair of in-office taste tests.

- Sweet Earth Big Sur Vegan Breakfast Burrito
-
If you aren’t vegan, I probably wouldn’t suggest you buy this Sweet Earth frozen breakfast burrito. If you are vegan, though, it’s the best breakfast burrito to suit your needs. It’s full of stuff (tofu scramble, red and green bell peppers, potatoes, and seitan), the tortilla is soft, and the whole thing is well seasoned. Fans of tofu will be fans of this burrito. I still think it needs some extra hot sauce, but that’s just a personal preference. It may not be the best frozen breakfast burrito for meat eaters, but it’s the best vegan breakfast burrito on the market. —Jordan Myrick

- Red’s Huevos Rancheros Burrito
-
This huevos rancheros-inspired frozen breakfast burrito is packed with a nice mess o’ stuff. You get black beans and tender clumps of scrambled egg, plenty of creamy cheese, and lots of diced peppers. This is the best burrito for green pepper lovers. I can be a bit pepper averse when they’re in this format (too often all you get are wet skins that stick to the roof of your mouth!), but these peppers really taste fresh. They’re nice and green and look freshly chopped. The one thing this is missing? Ranchero sauce, my dudes. But I guess you can supply your own red sauce (like a taco sauce or enchilada sauce) if you’re feeling ambitious. This is mostly just a good Mexican-esque burrito—it tastes good even though I think they should call it something else. Because it’s simply not rancheros without ranchero sauce. —Gwynedd Stuart

- El Monterey Applewood Smoked Bacon
-
Here’s a hard truth I discovered during our second breakfast burrito taste test: So many breakfast burritos are just slime inside. It’s insane. They’re unidentifiable mush through and through. This El Monterey burrito is a big improvement, especially if you want a lot of smoky bacon in your breakfast burrito. It’s very simple. It’s just egg, cheese, and bacon. It’s greasy, but it isn’t goo. The chunks of scrambled egg taste great and are nice and fluffy. The bacon is smoky and chewy. There is a lot of black pepper in this burrito, but I liked the very mild heat it contributes. This isn’t the absolute best breakfast burrito you’ll find in the frozen aisle, but these are affordable—and that smoky flavor will keep you coming back for bite after bite. —Gwynedd Stuart

- Red’s Turkey Sausage, Egg & Three Cheese Breakfast Burrito
-
Red’s Frozen Turkey Sausage and Egg Breakfast Burrito makes our list of the best frozen breakfast burritos because the sausage is so flavorful. Sometimes poultry versions of pork products can leave you wanting more—more fat, more salt, more flavor. But not this turkey sausage! It’s rich and wonderfully greasy and salty. Additionally, there’s plenty of cheese in this burrito, and the eggs are nice and fluffy. I would (and probably will) happily purchase this frozen breakfast burrito again. —Jordan Myrick

The other fillings are deliciously gooey. The tortilla is soft. I didn’t even feel compelled to put hot sauce on this premade breakfast burrito—that’s how good it is. - Tina’s Breakfast Burrito, Handcrafted, Egg, Sausage & Cheddar Cheese
-
Although this isn’t the most structurally sound frozen breakfast burrito we tried (my boss referred to it as a “goop tube”), it was easily our favorite. Gwynedd Stuart, Sporked managing editor, said it reminded her of a cheesier version of the McDonald’s breakfast burrito in the best way possible. The sausage is peppery and a little smoky. The filling is super cheesy and soft. These breakfast burritos are certified goop tubes, but they’re still the best breakfast burritos you can buy at the grocery store. —Jordan Myrick
