If you follow Gal Gadot on Instagram, you might recognize Goodles mac and cheese. The actress is a founding partner at Goodles, which set out to make a boxed mac and cheese that is “gooder” (i.e. more nutritionally valuable) than other boxed mac and cheeses. Goodles is also the first mac and cheese to earn a Clean Label certification. Goodles has good macros, too. One serving contains six grams of dietary fiber, 15 grams of protein, and a ton of vitamins. But how does it taste?
There’s definitely room for healthier mac and cheese option. The space is currently flooded with great, low-cost snack options, some pretty acceptable vegan mac and cheese brands, and even some gluten-free versions, but there just isn’t much mac & cheese that boasts this sort of protein richness. But the important question is: How does it taste? I made a couple different flavors to find out if this superhero mac & cheese scored a Wonder Woman or if it was more of a Morbius situation.
- Goodles Cheddy Mac
-
The big selling point to Goodles mac & cheese is the pasta. These little Kraft-esque curls of macaroni are delightfully chewy, flavorful, and filling. The taste and texture isn’t that far off from fresh pasta. These Goodles noodles are made with wheat flour, chickpea protein, wheat protein, and a whole slew of vegetables. The cheddar dust packet is quite flavorful too—tangy, cheesy, and salty gets the job done every time. That said, after you mix in some milk, you should definitely add in the optional butter, too. This pasta could benefit from the added creaminess, plus a little cracked black pepper too. The macros on this mac are very good, and the pasta is delightful. I don’t see any real downside to it, other than it’s not packed with the sodium and fat that other mac & cheese brands are. Healthful, ethical, and flavorful. Goodles feels like a damn good product to me.

- Goodles Aged White Cheddar and Shells
-
This variety has the same great pasta as the Cheddy Mac, just a different shape. The aged white cheddar features tiny little shells which act as delicious little cupholders for the cheesy sauce. White cheddar is a great, tangy, tart flavor that pairs great with the substantial and chewy Goodles shells. Again, lot of protein, fiber, and vitamins and you aren’t really sacrificing quality. That’s a great thing. Sure, there’s better tasting mac & cheese’s out there, but you got to give it up to a company trying to be ethical and healthful. More of that in the world, I say.
