Gordon Ramsay Says This Packaged Snack Food Is His Favorite, and It Threatens His Tough Guy Reputation

We all know Gordon Ramsay – and we know the effect he has on people. We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve watched the British TV star swear and snarl his way through an episode of Kitchen Nightmares, leaving his subjects feeling both defiant and terrified, before they finally roll their sleeves up, admit defeat, and fix their failing businesses. He’s not exactly a cuddly kitten (except maybe when he’s eating at his favorite fast food restaurant).

However, that doesn’t mean that Ramsay doesn’t have a more gentle side to his nature, and that softer edge comes with a love of soft, gummy snacks. Yep, Gordon Ramsay loves Welch’s Fruit Snacks. We know. We weren’t expecting it either.

Welch’s Fruit Snacks Was One of Gordon Ramsay’s First American Comfort Foods

Ramsay’s love of Welch’s Fruit Snacks runs deep. Back in 2004, when the chef first made his way over to the U.S. and started building his brand Stateside, Welch’s Fruit Snacks was his very first go-to snack when he was getting ready for a long night in the kitchen. “Chefs never eat before going into service because you need to keep that level of lightness and excitement, and so first thing that I went for was a Welch’s Fruit Snack,” Ramsay said in an interview with People.

Ramsay went on to mention that he also likes the fact that Welch’s Fruit Snacks feel as though they are a touch healthier than some other snacks. That might be stretching things ever so slightly, considering that fruit snacks are actually pretty similar to candy on a nutritional level, but we do admit that the fact that they have fruit purée in them is a big win for a prepackaged gummy. Plus, if they live up to the chef’s infamously high standards, then they’ve gotta be doing something right. 

Ramsay’s Relationship with Welch’s Has Spanned Several Decades

Who knew that 20 years after Gordon Ramsay was snarfing down Welch’s Fruit Snacks before a busy service, he would be fronting an ad campaign for them? To be honest, maybe he did – he’s always been pretty ambitious. However, his love of the snack meant that he was a natural fit for the brand’s first-ever commercial, which he starred in in 2024. He was given the lofty title of CFO (Chief Fruit Officer) by Welch’s for the campaign, which we’re sure he wore with pride while he promoted the snacks (and, by proxy, plugged the brand’s famous grape juice, which remains a top grape juice, in our opinion). Hey, we’d be proud too: According to our taste-testers, Welch’s are making the best tasting fruit snacks out there.
