How To Properly Celebrate National Spritz Day

If you’re like me, you’ve been watching your friends and family head over to Italy all summer long―which means resentment for all that fun while you’re stuck in the States has been slowly building. Coincidentally, National Spritz Day is headed our way in a few short days on August 1st. The timing on this couldn’t be more perfect. Spritzes are the poster child for a carefree summer in Italy, after all.

A nice spritz may not fully replace a jaunt around the Italian coast, but it is a hell of a lot cheaper. So we’ll take a win when we can get it. We need to make our National Spritz Day worth celebrating. Anything to bide our time until the actual big trip. Here are the spritzes you should grab to make National Spritz Day the best day of the year.

For Bitter For Worse Eva’s Spritz

If you’re a bitter Betty after watching your friend’s Insta story, you need a bitter mocktail to match! In fact, this one’s not only a good spritz it’s our favorite mocktail in general! We loved this one for its fascinating flavors and how surprised we were that so many fit into one little can. “There’s something so warm and bright about this mocktail. It’s sweet but not at all cloying, and every sip makes you ponder its components,” Sporked’s Gwynedd Stuart had to say.

Ghia Ginger Le Spritz

Ghia has a fantastic lineup of spritzes. In fact, only one spritz in their lineup was a smidge of a miss for us. Let’s focus on the highest rated in our mocktail taste test though. Ghia’s Ginger Le Spritz sounds fancy AF from the get go. The taste matches that energy! Bitterness leads out on this one as well but Gwynedd found it gained a bit of intrigue from the slight gingery burn.

Celsius Spritz Vibe Limoncello Twist

In a truly unexpected twist, an energy drink has made its way onto this list of spritzes. Who would have thought? Actually though, it might be the perfect replacement for an Italian summer? Sporked’s Griffin Parker found the tart, but almost equally as sweet, lemon in Celsius’ Spritz Vibe Limoncello Twist matches a true limoncello and the carbonation is eerily reminiscent of a good spritz. Grab this if you want a spritzy afternoon that’ll have you buzzin’ for hours! 

Saint Spritz Sardinia

I’m now realizing that we haven’t talked about any pre-spiked canned spritzes. You can (and certainly should) make any of the previously mentioned into a cocktail, but let’s still make up for lost time. Each Saint Spritz canned cocktail has the alcohol content of two actual spritzes. The tropical flavors of passion fruit, mango, and a hint of blood orange make for a fantastic drink to break out for an afternoon indulge straight from the can!

Upstate Elevator Yuzu Lemonade Spritz

Who said our spritzes for National Spritz Day had to be alcohol based? Upstate Elevator makes a yuzu lemonade spritz with 10mg of THC so you can get a little high to keep your spirits high. Or rather, not your spirits? I guess this is technically a spirit-free spritz so I shouldn’t make it confusing for us. The bright, tart flavors of the yuzu is basically like sunshine in a can, so Italy has nothing on this one!

La Marca Prosecco Sparkling Wine

Feeling crafty? Make your own spritz for the occasion! We’ve covered a number of pre-canned spritzes. It’s also worth mentioning that you can make them from scratch too. Grab La Marca prosecco from Sam’s Club, add in a citrus, splash in some club soda, and garnish away! Yes, it’s really just that simple.
