“ICEE lovers rejoice!” read the press release, and rejoice I did. Two of my favorite things in the world are sandwich cookies and ICEEs, so when ICEE announced it was launching a line of cookies stuffed with ICEE-flavored creme, I—to put it simply—freaked. All the deliciousness of the iconic movie theater drink nestled between two crunchy cookies? Sign me up!
ICEE promised “the classic pop and fizz of [an ICEE] in a delicious crème filled cookie,” which the company is releasing in the “same iconic flavors fans have loved for over 53 years.” Indeed, the cookies—a collab with Kroger that’s exclusively available at Kroger stores—come in cherry and blue raspberry varieties. But do they scratch that ICEE itch?

Even at first glance, it is undeniable that ICEE was able to capture the signature ICEE colors in these cookies. The distinct, completely unnatural blue raspberry is spot on. The vanilla cookies are embossed with the ICEE Bear, a severely underrated brand mascot. Blue raspberry is the milder of the two but still has that iconic taste. Also, it turns your tongue blue just like the drink!

- Cherry ICEE Cookies

The taste is 100% ICEE in a way that feels specific and shocking. The cherry doesn’t just taste like cherry flavor. It tastes like cherry-flavored ICEE. And, much to my surprise, these cookies actually do have a weird fizzy mouthfeel. It’s not a full-on explosion, like the Fireworks Oreos that were filled with popping candy. Instead, these lightly bubble. My guess is that they have a Pop Rocks-like powder mixed in with the creme center.

I don’t think I’m ready to toss out my Oreos and replace them with ICEE Cookies, but I do think these taste great and deliver exactly what they promise. ICEE Cookies would be the perfect snack to sneak into a movie theater or enjoy at a film-fueled slumber party.
