Is This Condiment the Secret to Unlocking Costco’s Food Court?

At this point, every one of my social media algorithms have been taken over by Costco content. Not that I’m complaining. In fact, I’m grateful. I wouldn’t have noticed this hack for the Costco food court without it. It really is a no brainer once you notice it, though. Fly by Jing’s OG Sichuan chili crisp is back in Costco stores and people are taking full advantage of the news.

Just Buy It In Store

The secret of this hack is so simple. In fact, I’ve already spoiled it. Whoopsie! Costco now sells a two-pack of Fly by Jing’s Sichuan chili crisp for $14.99 (which is basically a buy one get one free deal at that point). You have the free will to walk into the store, buy the chili crisp, and rip it open at the Costco food court.

You Can Put It On Damn Near Everything

At this point, I’ve seen about a thousand videos of people topping their food court offerings with Fly by Jing. What I’m quickly learning is there might not be a single item at the food court that I wouldn’t top with FBJ’s chili crisp.

Pizza? Absolutely. Ice cream. Ohhhh boy, yes please. Chicken bake? I’m digging out a tunnel and filling it in with chili crisp. Chocolate chip cookie? Surprisingly, also yes. I do have some hesitation on the cold brew mocha freeze, but there’s nothing I won’t try once. Hot dog? Like you thought I’d miss this one! I’m already out the door and ready to slather some chili crisp onto my hot dog combo (yes, both the dog and the soda).

Costco Should Just Make This An Official Pairing

If Costco had any gumption they would just start stocking Fly by Jing chili crisp at the food court. Maybe they could sell it in little packets for like a quarter a pop so they’re not just hemorrhaging money. I guess I’ll allow that. In the meantime, we’ll have to do the dirty work ourselves. Except it’s actually not that dirty at all. Costco already has plastic spoons on deck for the ice cream so you can grab one of those to get your chili crisp out of the jar with ease. It really is that simple.

Due to the nature of how Costco sources their products, there is a slight limit to who can take advantage of the store to court pipeline. At the current moment, Fly by Jing’s chili crisp is only available in Costco stores in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Hawaii. Hopefully it’ll make its way into more stores soon. In the meantime, you can just bring your own chili crisp from home. No one can stop you!
