We love a fast food hack. There, we said it. Yes, we know they can be a little gimmicky and can sometimes produce food that doesn’t actually taste that good, but the illusion they give of choice and control over one’s own destiny is pretty fun. A Costco hack to make food court pizza better? We’re sold. A money-saving kids menu hack at Chipotle? Sign us up. An absolutely wild Wendy’s burger, which is completely impractical and vaguely disturbing, but which is a definite talking point? We won’t be ordering it, but we’ll take a look.

So, obviously, we were all ears when we heard about Jersey Mike’s viral nachos – and it seems like Jersey Mike’s was, too. It’s now almost, almost, made them official. Allow us to explain.
What Are Jersey Mike’s Viral Nachos?
Jersey Mike’s viral nachos have been doing the rounds on socials in the last couple of weeks, and it’s fair to say that they’re not for the faint of heart. These nachos are, essentially, a Philly cheesesteak (Jersey Mike’s #17, in case you were wondering) piled onto a bed of Doritos, with jalapeño peppers and chipotle mayo on top. They’re big, brassy, greasy, and filling, and if you don’t have an appetite, you’ll probably want to steer clear, lest you waste your money.
Up until now, Jersey Mike’s viral nachos have been ordered by, quite simply, going up, asking for them, and hoping that the employee knows what you’re talking about. Now, though, Jersey Mike’s has gone official.
And How Have They Been Made “Official”, Exactly?
Okay, they’re not strictly official – in that they’re not on the menu proper – but apparently, corporate has been making it much easier for employees to both ring them up and make them. Over on Reddit, Jersey Mike’s workers have posted pictures of their cash registers, with a Viral Nachos button now added, and pictures of a guide for how to make the nachos. Apparently, this was accompanied by an email to stores explaining the change, and presumably, also explaining the trend to those Jersey Mike’s employees who happen to not be on TikTok.
…Okay. And How Do Jersey Mike’s Employees Feel About All This?
They’re not overjoyed, if we’re being totally honest with you. “Oh hell no, I’m not making the viral nachos” went the title of another Reddit post, in response to the addition of the menu item to the cash register. Others have said that this feels like Jersey Mike’s is taking a step towards a Subway vibe, and given that people have recently been accusing the chain of making smaller sandwiches (as so many have done with Subway before it), that ain’t a great look.
Nonetheless, they’re here, and we’d imagine they’ll be around for the next couple of weeks. Will you be trying them? Have you tried them? Do you want to try them? Let us know.
