King’s Hawaiian Just Dropped Mystery Flavored Rolls

King’s Hawaiian’s Rolls are definitely a take it or leave it carbohydrate. But the people who love them are die-hard fans. And as lovers of the sweet and salty combo, we here at Sporked are firmly standing in the die-hard camp. Because honestly, what could be better than something crispy, crunchy, and salty sandwiched into the delightful pillowy, tender, and sweet rolls. Okay, okay, maybe we’re getting carried away with the memories of the last fried chicken sandwich we had on a King’s Hawaiian Roll. But, every time we have one of their classic roles we are simply never disappointed.

That’s why, when they announced their most recent product, we were not only a little bit surprised due to their dedication to producing a classic product very well, but we were certain to keeping our minds open to the possibility of their greatness. You see, this launch isn’t about what we know about this product. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. King’s Hawaiian’s most recent release are Mystery Sweet Rolls. Let’s try and crack this mystery together. 

Everything We Know About The Mystery Flavor

Okay, so everything we know about this new launch is really just that it is a mystery flavor that leans into the classic buns’ inherent sweetness. And, we do know that the flavor is fall inspired and very limited edition. King’s Hawaiian themselves said that “once they’re gone, you missed your chance to solve [the mystery]” in the product description. Now, you might be saying to yourself that obviously you’re going to want try out the newest flavor of these already fantastic rolls. But you’re likely still gonna have some questions, naturally.

For starters, the location of these rolls isn’t as straightforward as we may have hoped. In fact, you can actually only order them from the King’s Hawaiian website. That’s right, unfortunately, these are online-only. Not only do we think that this is a big missed opportunity since the allure to these mystery rolls would surely be heightened in the event that people could actually stumble upon them in stores, but there’s still one big question lingering over this new release: what’s the flavor?

Our Theory

Sure, it’s the whole point of these rolls to buy, taste, and assess them for ourselves, but since the buns are only available for an online purchase, then it’s a way bigger commitment to buy something without even knowing what it is. Chances are, we think, that these rolls are either going to be pumpkin or apple inspired. But, we’re fairly certain that they’re going to lean into the flavor of warm spices for this mystery flavor – cinnamon in particular — to complement the already existing flavors in the classic rolls.

Regardless, we’re happy to see King’s Hawaiian leaning into the fully sweet flavor profile for their rolls so that we can utilize the rolls in ways that a lot of people are already doing, this time with more flavor.
