Kraft Is Adding Chili Crisp To Mac & Cheese

Just as any reasonable lactose tolerant person does, we here at Sporked love mac and cheese. Not only does it bring together two of the best ingredients ever (cheese and pasta), but it is deeply nostalgic and rooted in only the fondest of memories. And, that’s ultimately where our deep love for Kraft’s good ole boxed mac and cheese comes in. Even we will admit that it’s far from the most fabulous mac cheese is available, though, but it’s consistent and has been ever since we were little.

But with such a strong foundation and a beloved product on their hands, Kraft is mixing it up with new flavors. The newest flavor in the Kraft Mac & Cheese product lineup has received a little to no mention from the company as of yet, but fans are already spotting it on grocery store shelves. So, we figured we’d do our best to break down what we know of this new mac & cheese launch so far.

Kraft Is Turning Up The Heat

The new flavor that shoppers have been spotting on the shelves of Walmart, Harris Teeter, and grocery stores of the like is a Chili Crisp Mac & Cheese flavor. The boxes of this Chili Crisp Mac & Cheese are labeled as limited edition. So, if you are one of the lucky people to see this stocked near you, then I would suggest picking up a box or two if you’re at all interested in the product.

Since the box alludes to this still being a standard box of their mac and cheese but with extra seasoning, then I would say that it’s pretty reasonable to assume that the flavor of this mac is going to be along the lines of what you would get if you took actual chili crisp and drizzled over your box of standard Kraft Mac & Cheese. On that note, though, this does leave us with lingering questions of whether or not this is a necessary flavor to add to their catalog. Is this Chili Crisp Mac & Cheese really going to be better than if you were to just put chili crisp on your mac and cheese yourself? We have our doubts.

An Unsurprising Choice

For as much as we may doubt that this new flavor will be better than the dish that it takes inspiration from, we still have to say that it makes sense that they would go ahead and produce this product. Kraft’s boxed mac competitor Goodles released a similar product just a few months ago through their Twirly Mac collection. And, even Kraft itself found success in the Jalapeño Mac & Cheese flavor that they previous released. It’s a well-known fact that people love this combination of cheesy and spicy flavors, so combining them into a simple and easy dish seems like a no-brainer.
