When I found out that Kraft was going to be dropping a new, limited edition Smokey BBQ Mac & Cheese, I was over-the-moon excited for an opportunity to experience a new flavor from one of my childhood favorite brands.

I got my hands on a box and eagerly prepared my pot of macaroni noodles. Once the noodles were done boiling, without even thinking I ripped the cheese packed open and poured it in—without draining the water. Needless to say my ADHD got the best of me there and this review is based off of my findings from the second box of Kraft Smokey BBQ Mac & Cheese I consumed and NOT the first.

Kraft Smokey BBQ Mac & Cheese

Pros: I am a fan of any sort of barbecue-flavored snack, and this mac and cheese delivers the level of barbecue flavor that I was hoping for. The smokiness adds a really nice touch and a lot of depth of flavor to the noodles. And the cheesiness of your average mac and cheese is not lost here. The cheesy and smokey barbecue flavors mesh together perfectly. My partner pointed out that these would go great with some sliced up hot dog in the bowl with a side of Fritos. I think I’m going to need to make another bowl, because that sounds terrific.

Cons: I do wish the cheesy flavor was perhaps a little bit stronger. On a scale of one to ten, the barbecue is at a 7 or an 8 and cheesiness is at a 3 or a 4. I think I’d like to turn the barbecue down a notch and turn the cheesiness up one. A nitpick to be most certain, but that’s what we do here! Also, the biggest con is that this product is available for a LIMITED TIME ONLY. I didn’t know mac and cheese FOMO was a thing until now, but apparently it is.
