Welcome to Mythical Kitchen Picks, the series in which the culinary experts from Mythical Kitchen tell you all about their favorite foods and ingredients. For the next few installments, we’ll be talking about Halloween treats. Last time, Trevor Evarts shared his all-time favorite Halloween chocolate (it’s a classic). Now, Lily Cousins is going savory with her pick.
Lily’s Halloween Pick: Trader Joe’s Popcorn with Herbs & Spices
I used to be so excited when Halloween came around because I made cute Halloween baggies with the best, FULL-SIZED candy bars for all the trick-or-treaters. But you know what happened!? NO ONE EVER CAME. I’m officially a grumpy, old neighbor this year. I’m turning off my lights, I’m closing the blinds, and I’m binging the best Halloween movies. That’s why this year I’m recommending Trader Joe’s Popcorn with Herbs & Spices as my Halloween pick. It’s not a seasonal product, so you can get it all year round, but there’s something so cozy about having a couple drinkaroos with a big bag of popcorn and watching some good ol’ scary cinema.
This Trader Joe’s popcorn reminds me of a local Maine popcorn I’m obsessed with called Little Lad’s Herbal Popcorn, so I was so excited to find this at my local Trader Joe’s. I love a buttery popcorn and there’s something fun about a bucket of Chicago popcorn around the holidays, but when I eat popcorn, I want to be shoveling it into my pie hole throughout the entire movie. This popcorn allows you to do that because it’s light but so yummy and savory from all the dried dill and nutritional yeast.
Also, I’m totally not a nutritionist, but sometimes lil’ Lil gets a tummy ache and needs an extra boost of fiber—if you know what I mean. Popcorn has fiber! So, hit two birds with one stone this Halloween by watching a good film (may I suggest Disney Channel’s Halloweentown for my Millennial peeps), eating a bag of TJ’s Popcorn with Herbs & Spices and then do what you need to do when the credits start rolling (wink wink). Stop tricking, stop treating, and just eat some good popping corn. Happy Halloween.
