Of the Pepperidge Farm cookies on offer at the grocery store, there is a certain superiority of a few specific cookie varieties. To us, the best Pepperidge Farm has to offer is represented in their Milano cookies and their Chessmen cookies. The Chessmen cookies are crumbly, buttery shortbread that have recently been revamped to include seasonal varieties and flavors galore. But, we’ll always hold a special place in our hearts for our beloved Milano sandwich cookies.

Not only are the cookies tender and delicate in and of themselves, but the luscious, creamy filling will have us forever trance. Most of the flavors of Milanos are typically filled with some sort of chocolate filling, but we have been seeing an exciting trend of true renovation in the Milano cookie space from Pepperidge Farms that has us standing at attention. The most recent flavor Milano debuted by Pepperidge farms is their Espresso Martini Milanos, and it has our curiosity peaked. Let’s break down the details of this new launch together, shall we?
The Sweet, Sweet Details
These new Espresso Martini Milanos are a part of Pepperidge Farms’ seasonal holiday Milano varieties, and it will accompany the return of Milano Peppermint Slices and Amaretto Hot Chocolate Milanos for the overall holiday flavor release.
This new flavor is made up of an entirely different flavor profile, though. Introducing coffee into the Milano universe in and of itself is exciting notion. So, the traditional Milano cookies sandwiching a coffee infused chocolate filling and a vanilla filling alike in these espresso martini cookies has us ready to run to the grocery store.
Lingering Questions
An espresso martini is a drink primarily made of vodka. And while, yes, you occasionally see some coffee liquor in it in addition to the espresso and sweetener, this drink is still heavily dependent on the flavor of vodka to comprise its flavor of profile. So, considering how these cookies are being made, I guess we’re just left wondering how accurate of an espresso martini flavor these will actually have.
There are some cookies that have a lingering flavor of alcohol (like the Amaretto Hot Chocolate Milanos) that isn’t overwhelming, but I’m not sure that’s what we’re gonna get from these cookies. More than likely, I think we can expect these to taste more like a mocha latte than anything else. Either way, we’re not complaining as we’re sure to enjoy the flavor represented. But, we are intrigued to see how these actually deliver on the espresso martini flavor.
