M&M’s Is Bringing Back the Flavor Vote After 7 Years

Voting is a beautiful thing. It allows you to add your voice to the way things work. Sometimes, it even leads to change. And in the snack world, change is a beautiful thing. Votes on new candy and snack flavors have been a thing for a while, but when companies decide to run them can feel pretty random – and sometimes, these big old corporations snatch the ability to give our opinion away. They give, and they take.

Well, M&M’s, courtesy of parent company Mars, has decided to give this week. Seven years after its Flavor Vote competition was ripped from our hands, it’s just been announced that it’s back. And there are a few flavors that we’ve got our eye on. 

Wait, What’s the Flavor Vote?

Kind of exactly what it sounds like. M&M’s Flavor Vote was a popular competition that allowed customers to choose which flavor they’d like to be made, out of several contestants. M&M’s would then duly put out said flavor. Back in 2018, more than a million votes were cast, with M&M’s Coffee Nut emerging as the winner. M&M’s Chili Nut, meanwhile, lost out, and is a flavor that we sorely miss.

Which Flavors Are in the Line-Up This Year?

Roll up, roll up, here’s what you can vote for…

Peanut Butter Cinnamon Roll

A combo of cinnamon roll flavor and creamy peanut butter, which sounds absolutely deeeelicious. 

Cherry Chocolate Cupcake

Chocolate cake flavors combined with dark cherry, all in that crunchy shell.

Lemon Meringue Pie

A lemony flavor paired with white chocolate, with a crispy center.

Wait! We can’t decide which one we like best! (Oh, wait, we can. We’ve tried all of them already.)

According to Martin Terwilliger, VP of marketing for Mars Snacking North America, “the M&M’S bakery collection was inspired by some of the most popular dessert flavor combinations, so we’re really excited to see which variant reigns supreme with our fans.” Mars has apparently decided to bring back its Flavor Vote as a way to “connect with M&M’s fans,” which we guess is nice! It’s also excellent marketing. But…nice. 

I’m Guessing These Flavors Aren’t Available Yet, If I Have To Vote…

We’re pleased to report that’s not the case! These flavors are all available right now. The idea is that you buy them all, in copious quantities, and then vote on which one you want to keep around. You can grab them in whatever-sized pouch works for you, and munch away to your heart’s content, while mulling over your decision.

Right now! Head over to MMS.com/vote to make your voice heard, once you’ve tried them all. You have until May 15 to vote on your fave, and the winner will be announced later that month, before joining the M&M’s lineup towards the end of the year (in a limited capacity).
