Anyone who’s ever been to Costco will know that it sells a lot of things you need – and a lot of things that can quite reasonably be labelled as novel. The store is home to some pretty wild items, and whether you’re in the market for an 85-pound wheel of cheese or a supersized barrel of maple syrup, it’s got you covered.

Well, what about if you want to play everyone’s favorite board game with a glass of wine? Can Costco combine those two pleasures in one purchase? Yes. Yes, it can. Costco is now selling Monopoly: Mano’s Wine Edition, which combines the game with a bottle of California Cabernet Sauvignon. Do evenings come much classier than that? We don’t think so. Here’s what we know.
Monopoly And Wine: A Must For Your Next Party
Costco’s newest find was spotted by Instagrammer @instoreclearance, who promptly posted pics of the Mano’s Wine Edition Monopoly set in their local store. The set is priced at $51.99 (honestly, not bad for a good wine and a game you can play again and again), and it’s only available at select locations.
Very importantly, this is an adult edition of the board game, and that might not be what you think it means: Essentially, it’s adapted to fit in with the wine-ness of it all. Mano’s Wine Edition comes with a few changes to its squares and cards: for instance, you have to pay a fine on “Corked Bottles” if you draw a certain card, whereas if you land on Go, you have to make a toast. It all sounds like a very civilized way to get drunk, and hey, if you’re going to indulge in being a property tycoon and rampant capitalism, then you should at least feel like a property tycoon and rampant capitalist while you do so. Those guys love good wine. So why can’t we?
Yeah, About That Wine – What Is It?
Yes, this is a food website, after all, so let’s discuss it. Mano’s is, according to its website, “the industry leader in manufacturing and distribution of deep etched & hand painted wine for a variety of entities.” An urban winery, it works with a carefully selected list of wine makers around the world, finishing the production process in its Kansas City facility. This isn’t your bog-standard grocery store wine, and people who have purchased this Monopoly X Mano’s mash-up have noted that the vintage that comes with it is good, and the bottle itself, which has a bespoke Monopoly etching on the outside, is pretty stunning.
Oh, and in case you were wondering: It costs $70 on the Mano’s website. So if you get it in Costco, you’re saving almost $20. That’s assuming that you’ve always been in the market for a wine-themed Monopoly set, but we wouldn’t put it past anyone.
