A couple weeks ago, on 4/20, my friends and I engaged in something called the High Olympics. It’s an annual event where we all get appropriately blazed and compete against one another in brain games. One of those brain games included naming as many state capitals as possible in under two minutes. I failed miserably. But you know what I would have failed a lot less miserably at?

Naming each state’s favorite fast food dessert. For me, that’s something you read one time and never forget. It’s also something you can make an educated guess at, even going in blind. (I would have never been able to make an educated guess that “Pierre” was the capital of South Dakota. Give me a break, guys.) In fact, before I give you the full list, I challenge you to make some educated guesses about the most popular fast food desserts in each state. I’ll help you out:
According to a new data analysis, these are the five fast food desserts in the US that won the most states.
- McDonald’s Oreo McFlurry: 6 states
- Arby’s Jamocha Shake: 5 states (NEVER expected this kind of Arby’s supremacy, but I’m so here for it)
- Subway Footlong Cookie: 5 states
- Popeyes Cinnamon Apple Pie: 4 states
- Taco Bell Cinnamon Twists: 4 states
Can you guess where they won? If it helps, this data analysis, which comes to us from Yay! Coloring Pages, is based specifically on search results. Aka, which fast food dessert (based on a group of 21 desserts) has the most internet search in each state. It’s not a sure-fire way to determine sales or anything, but it’s the best you can really do to assess popularity.
This is the map, if you’re a visual learner. I feel like I’m looking at an electoral college of fast food desserts.
