We are ALWAYS talking about (and fangirling over) Mountain Dew—and any time a new flavor releases you KNOW we’ve got to check it out. When word came out that Walmart would be kicking Frost Bite to the curb to get a new exclusive flavor of Mountain Dew—Mountain Dew Dragon Fruit—the search was on!

Thankfully, my friends at Mountain Dew came to the rescue and sent a few bottles over, so I am popping one open to find out if this new Mountain Dew from Walmart is better than the old store exclusive flavor.

Mountain Dew Dragon Fruit Review

New Mountain Dew Flavor!

Mountain Dew Dragon Fruit Review

Pros: Y’all, this new Mountain Dew flavor is GOOD. It is sweet without being overpoweringly sweet. Dragon Fruit has a nice, light, almost floral flavor to it. I can confidently say that this is better than the previous Walmart exclusive, Frost Bite. (I was not a fan and it was deemed “forgettable” in the official Sporked ranking of Mountain Dew flavors.) Not only is this great on its own, but I also recommend mixing it with Pepsi (a 60/40 Dragon Fruit Mountain Dew/Pepsi split) to create an old flavor of Pepsi that I loved: Pepsi X

Cons: As much as I love the gentle dragon fruit flavor, it’s admittedly a touch on the weaker side compared to some other Mountain Dew flavors. (I know, dragon fruit is typically described as being watery or flavorless.) The flavor that is there is phenomenal, but I’d love for this flavor of Dew to punch me in the face a little bit harder.

Consensus: This new Mountain Dew flavor is another absolute banger and a great new Walmart exclusive. Although it may not be overflowing with overpowering flavor, it’s definitely a unique soda worth seeking out if you love all things Dew.

  • I like that Dragon Fruit is one of the more mellow Mountain Dew flavors, especially as most of the new Baja flavors are very in your face. It’s a welcome change to have something not kick you in the teeth with so much sweetness.

  • It’s not a Walmart exclusive. I can get it at the local Meijers near me. But good to know you’re likely paid by Walmart to say it’s exclusive.

    • It’s been marketed by both Pepsi and Walmart as an exclusive, and has been for around 6 months. No clue why you can get it at Meijers. But great job just hauling of and making accusations! Makes you seem like a great person!

    • Maybe because Miejers idnt available everywhere.

      Reply
    • It’s meant to be Walmart only. If your Meijer got it then it was most likely an error by Pepsi delivery personnel.
