Last year I tried the Mountain Dew VooDEW Froster exclusively available at Circle K and I was pretty blown away by it. So, when I saw that Circle K was releasing yet ANOTHER exclusive Froster flavor this summer—Mountain Dew Summer Sparkler—I knew I had to fulfill my duties as Sporked’s resident Mountain Dew expert and make my way to Circle K to try it. No, I have returned. I have tried it. And I have notes!
New Froster Flavor!
Mountain Dew Summer Sparkler Froster Review
Pros: This new Mountain Dew Froster is VERY similar to Mountain Dew Summer Freeze—just frozen. I get all the flavor notes that you would typically expect from a red, white, and blue popsicle (that being cherry, lemon, and raspberry). And something about it being frozen makes it taste just a little bit better. One thing that I do want to call out as a pro for many: Mountain Dew Summer Freeze contains both Blue 1 and Red 40, but the Mountain Dew Summer Sparker Froster is dye-free. While some people may be disappointed by the blah color, I personally see this as an absolute win.
Cons: Not to continue my streak of being the King of Nitpicks here at Sporked, but I’ve got to ask: Why didn’t they just call it “Summer Freeze Froster?” Or “Summer Freeze²?” Or change the name of Summer Freeze to Summer Sparkler? The difference in names seems a bit silly when the flavors are nearly identical. And one more thing: The Summer Sparkler graphic of an ice cream truck adorned with a Bomb Pop-style popsicle seems to be AI-generated. Mountain Dew, I love you, and I have loved you for a very long time, but let artists make your artwork, not machines. While both of my nitpicks don’t necessarily impact the flavor itself, both felt important for me to call out!
Conclusion: If you’re a fan of Mountain Dew Summer Freeze and you are a fan of frozen drinks, you’re going to want to head down to your local Circle K and pick this up stat.
