You’ve seen the picture above. You, a sane human being, are probably wondering what the hell is in this new 7-Eleven sandwich. A less sane human being might try to see if their local 7-Eleven has it so they can go buy it right now. Fine—for you freaks in the second category, I’ll break the bad news: For now, this is only available in Japan. I’m sorry. (But am I?)

It’s called a “Yokubari Chocolate Sprinkles and Whipped Cream Sandwich.” Can you guess what’s in it?
“That can’t possibly be pure whipped cream between two pieces of milk bread, Ariana.” Oh but it is. Oh. But. It. Is. And it’s absolutely coated in sprinkles, too. Allegedly, the whipped cream isn’t too sweet, so it’s not as cloying as you would expect. (If we tried to do this in America, I guarantee it would be inedible.) People are saying it’s inspired by Australian “fairy bread,” which is literally just white bread, butter, and rainbow sprinkles. You would, Australia. You would.
7-Eleven in Japan has a whole series of “greedy” sandwiches called “Yokubari.” This is the latest in that line-up.
In Japanese, “Yokubari” means “greedy,” but with a positive, almost teasing connotation of being “indulgent” or “generous.” 7-Eleven’s Yokubari sandwich line has both savory and sweet options, with an emphasis on an incredibly stuffed filling. Some of their most popular ones include:
- Yokubari Menchi-Katsu & Egg Sandwich: this combines the infamous 7-Eleven egg salad with a panko-crusted meat patty (it’s way more delicious than it sounds, I swear)
- Yokubari Fruit & Cream Sandwiches: these often have strawberries, kiwi, and mango mixed with whipped cream nestled between sponge cakes. (They look SO pretty.)
I am sick with jealousy. Now excuse me while I browse Spirit airline flights to Tokyo.
