The big BK news that everyone is reporting on is the new Peppercorn BLT Whopper. We already covered that news way back when it was just a rumor (TL;DR it’s a Whopper topped with bacon, Swiss cheese, and creamy peppercorn aioli). So we’ve got our eye on another notable Burger King item splashing its way onto the menu: Watermelon Lemonade. Let’s talk about it.

What’s the deal with Burger King’s Watermelon Lemonade?

BK’s Watermelon Lemonade is a mix of tart lemonade and sweet watermelon. It’s not a frozen drink. It does seem to be pink. And it launched on March 30th. That’s about all we know right now.

Is it actually new?

So, here’s the tricky thing. Any news story you read about this lemonade indicates that Burger King is bringing it back, suggesting that it’d been out before. But I have found no evidence of that. There are no news stories about Burger King adding a Watermelon Lemonade to the line-up. No social posts that I can find. No mention of it on Reddit. The closest I can find is a Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade, which seems to have been an item on Canadian Burger King menus. Therefore, I think this is actually a new Burger King drink. Exciting!

Is this a permanent addition to the Burger King menu?

Like the Peppercorn BLT Whopper, the Watermelon Lemonade will be available for a limited time. So if you want to get a little taste of summer in early spring, then you better hop to it.

And if you do have any evidence of this lemonade existing before this year, please let me know in the comments. I’m deep in this mystery and I will solve it.

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
