Chips Ahoy Just Dropped Its Chillest Cookie Yet

There are plenty of creme-filled cookies at the grocery store. You’ve got your Oreos, your sugar wafers, your Keebler E.L. Fudges. In this, the year of our lord 2025, what could possibly make a creme-filled cookie seem new or noteworthy? Well, I dare say that Nabisco has cracked the case with the new Chips Ahoy Chewy Ice Cream Sandwich Inspired cookies.

Did Chips Ahoy just send us into uncharted waters? Does whoever invented these deserve to swab the decks? Also, what the heck is “ice cream sandwich inspired”? Are these frozen or not?

The answer to all of these questions remains a bit of a mystery, but don’t you worry, you Jr. Detective, you. We do have some clues. Judging by the image on the package, these are kind of like Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies, except the creme center is fully inside of a single cookie instead of being sandwiched between two cookies. And obviously, we’re dealing with Chewy Chips Ahoy rather than chewy oatmeal cookies. The website says you can “chill or freeze” the cookies for an “extra treat to help beat the heat.” And let me just say, the rhyming alone makes me want to take a closer lookie at these cookies. By which I mean buy them.

Essentially, these new Chips Ahoy seem like cookies whose 9-to-5 job is being chocolate chip creme pies and whose 5-to-9 job (if you freeze them) is being ice cream sandwich-adjacent dessert-time phenomena. And that is pretty cool. Literally.  And while this isn’t the first time Chips Ahoy has released filled chewy cookies (they have done brownie filled, fudge filled, birthday creme filled, red velvet cream cheese frosting filled), and not even the first time they’ve done temperature-dependent fillings (they did a s’mores cookie and a hot chocolate cookie that had gooey chocolate centers when heated), this is their first chillable offering and we cannot wait to try it.

These new Chips Ahoy cookies are available now online at Walmart, so in the next couple weeks, they should be rolling out to stores everywhere. Be forewarned: They say “summer edition” on the pack, which leads us to believe these may go away relatively quickly after they launch. So, if you are a fan of Chewy Chips Ahoy, Oatmeal Creme Pies, Tollhouse Ice Cream Sandwiches, or super-chill-looking cartoon cookies holding surfboards (the packaging is dope), get ready to get out there and snag the (potential) snack of your dreams this summer while you can.
