Costco Finally Brought Back the Churro….Sorta

Costco, just tell us the truth: Do you hate us? No? ‘Cos it sure feels that way sometimes. Since 2023, the beloved food court churro has been missing from Costcos everywhere, and while this fan favorite admittedly may have declined a little in the last few years of its lifespan, people still mourn its passing. Now, with the introduction of its new Caramel Churro Sundae, Costco has almost, almost brought it back – but not quite. We were so close.

With all that said, though, this new sundae does look delicious, so maybe we’ll give the store a pass this time. Here’s what we know, and what the scoop is (get it?) on this new ice cream.

What Is the New Caramel Churro Sundae?

Essentially, exactly what it sounds like. Costco’s new dessert starts with its soft serve, for which you can opt for vanilla, chocolate, or the swirled version, and then topped with caramel sauce and churro bites. The bites themselves look pretty good, even if they’re not the full-sized thing. The Caramel Churro Sundae will cost $2.99, and with how much everything costs these days, that’s a damn steal.

That Dessert Sounds a Little Familiar…

Doesn’t it just? That’s because Sam’s Club has just dropped a very similar one, in the form of its Member’s Mark Caramel Palmier Sundae. That comes topped with a palmier cookie instead of a churro, but the two sweet treats have a close construction to each other. Looks like it’s a battle of the big box sundaes, guys. 

Where Can I Get Costco’s New Sundae? As in, Right Now?

To be honest, it looks as though Costco’s being a little slow on the release of this one. While the Instagram account @costcohotfinds has managed to track one of its Caramel Churro Sundaes down, there haven’t been a lot of people online who have sampled it and reported back just yet. This looks as though it’s going to be a pretty major release for Costco, though, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it shows up in your local store soon.

And People Are Excited, Right?

Well…yeah, some of them! A lot of people, though, have taken the opportunity of this new release to remind Costco once again that they want the former dessert back on the menu.  “We don’t want bits of churros. We want the whole damn churros back!” said one comment on @costcohotfinds’ post, which garnered thousands of likes. That commenter wasn’t the only one voicing that opinion, either. You can’t hide forever, Costco!
