Costco’s hot dog is the stuff of legend – and much of that is to do with its price. For decades, the All Beef Hot Dog has not just remained everyone’s favorite food court item, but also one of the biggest bargains out there. $1.50 for a dog and a soda? We’re in. And when you throw in the fact that Costco throws us a curveball with different variations on its deal for the same price now and again, like its Polish hot dog, we remain heavily invested in this meat, bread, and drink-based combo.

Well, in 2026, Costco isn’t resting on its laurels: It may have removed the aforementioned Polish dog, but it’s added a new hot dog and bottled water deal. So, why are customers split on it? Let’s dive in.
What’s The New Deal?
In classic Costco fashion, its new hot dog and bottled water combo has simply just…appeared, instead of being announced with much fanfare. Costco customers have recently spotted that, in addition to the standard Hot Dog & Soda Combo button on the ordering kiosks, there’s now a Hot Dog & Water Combo, which gives you a single bottle of Kirkland water with your food. The deal is $1.50, the same as the one with soda.
Sounds Like A Good Enough Deal To Me…
Some customers definitely agree. Over on Reddit, people discussing the new deal have pointed out that the new option is a nice one, and it’s nice to have a portable option for your hot dog, instead of having to juggle a fountain drink in one hand and a glizzy in the other. Now, you can tuck your bottled water away for later.
Plus, $1.50 for a hot dog and a drink of any kind remains a steal in this day and age – and if you don’t drink (or like) soda, then this new deal will be right up your street. Indeed, a lot of Costco customers ask to skip the drink and grab a bottle of water anyway, so maybe this is just the store responding to that behavior. Oh, and it’d still fit nicely in the Costco hot dog holder we spied a few months back, which we remain obsessed with.
So What’s The Problem?
Well, some people have pointed out the price difference between a bottle of water and a fountain drink. “Soda is 69 cents (nice) and most stores have the vending machine with water for 25 cents,” said one customer on Reddit. As such, there’s a sense that maybe, just maybe, the bottled water combo should cost a touch less – especially given that you’re getting slightly less liquid overall.
That said, the potential savings you’d make if the bottled water version of this meal deal were cheaper is fairly minimal, so we’d imagine that most people will be just fine with it. You can always rely on Redditors to hotly debate something like this, though.
