Twisted Tea is popular. Like, really popular. It’s the top selling malt beverage brand. But it’s not resting on its laurels. The brand is adding two new Twisted Tea flavors to its Extreme line, which boasts higher alcohol than the standard hard teas. And one of these new flavors really caught my eye. Let’s get into it.
What is Twisted Tea Extreme?
First, let’s talk about this subline. Twisted Tea Extreme launched in 2023 with two flavors: Lemon and Blue Razz. What makes them extreme? That would be more alcohol. Specifically, Twisted Tea Extreme flavors are 8% ABV while regular Twisted Tea comes in at 5% ABV.
What are these new Twisted Tea flavors?
Twisted Tea just released a new variety pack of the Extreme flavors, which includes the original Extreme Lemon and Extreme Blue Razz along with new Extreme Fruit Punch and (this is the one I’m psyched about) Extreme Long Island Iced Tea.
In a press release, the brand described the Fruit Punch as “a perfectly balanced mix of juicy black cherry, sharp orange, and bright lemon.” Great. Fine. Whatever. It’s boozy fruit punch. Let’s get to the real draw: Extreme Long Island Iced Tea.
I am a staunch supporter and defender of the Long Island Iced Tea. When made correctly, I think it’s an alcoholic work of art. The magic that happens when all that booze and just a touch of cola and lemon juice come together is simply amazing. But I’ve never had a good canned Long Island Iced Tea. Could this new Twisted Tea finally be the answer to my LIIT prayers? Will it finally earn Twisted Tea a spot on our ranking of the best hard iced tea? I will be back with a review when we get our hands on samples.
Do I have to get the full variety pack just to try the new flavors?
Nope! You can get the new Twisted Tea Extreme Long Island Iced Tea and Extreme Fruit Punch in 16 oz single-serve cans.
