Halloween is roughly a month away and nary a leaf has fallen here in Southern California, so you know what that means: Deets about this year’s new Christmas candy are starting to leak! Once November 1 rolls around and all of the Halloween candy has been moved to that weird sale table at the front of the grocery store, holiday treats will be taking its place in the candy aisle and there’s some new stuff you need to keep an eye out for if you want to have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny f’ing Kaye. Here’s some of the new holiday candy we’ll be stuffing our stockings (and faces) with this year.
Kit Kat Peppermint Stick
These new Kit Kats don’t involve chocolate (booo), but if you like peppermint creme, you’re in luck! If you are wondering what in the heck this whole “creme” business is, it looks like white chocolate. It will probably taste like white chocolate. But they probably legally can’t call it white chocolate. They also have festive green and red crunchy candy bits to counterbalance the sweet (basically white chocolate but legally not) peppermint creme. These will reportedly start hitting stores in mid-October.
Hershey Kisses Snickerdoodle Cookie
The candy world just keeps on innovating, giving us everything from freeze-dried Skittles to glowing Swedish Fish (yes, a real, actual thing that happened this year). But sometimes they stumble upon something new that has us all thinking, “Wait, didn’t they already do this? Oh, wait no they haven’t. Huh. What a time to be alive.” In mid-October, Hershey’s is releasing Snickerdoodle Hershey’s Kisses, which, according to early images of the packaging, combine snickerdoodle flavored creme and cookie bits.
Twix Snowmen
Much like Kit Kat, Twix is experimenting with shapes this year. What tastes better: Cookies, caramel, and chocolate in neat little bars or cookies, caramel, and chocolate molded to look like pudgy little snowmen? Well, we’ll find out when Twix Snowmen are released (no official date yet, so keep your eyes peeled). Our main Q: Is the Twix Snowman a right Twix or a left Twix?? Hopefully, he’s whichever one tastes better…
Lifesavers Gummies Holiday Shapes
Lifesavers’ whole thing is that they are shaped like Lifesavers. But if those iconic little rings just are festive enough for your Christmas celebrations, we have super news: Lifesavers is also launching holiday shapes. What are they? From images of the package, it looks like we’re dealing with little Santa hats, snowflakes, stockings, stars, and snowmen. The flavors sound fun, too: Cheery Cherry, Frosty White Grape, Evergreen Apple, Wintry Watermelon, and Icy Blue Raspberry.
