4 New Holiday Cereals We Can't Wait to Try This Year

What food do you think of when you think of the holiday season? Pie? Turkey? Potatoes? WRONG. The correct answer was cereal. Holiday cereal, to be exact, and if this is news to you and you find yourself asking, “What the heck is a holiday cereal and why is it somehow more emblematic of the holidays than, say, ham?” you have come to the right place, because I’m about to tell ya.

So far, the cereal big bois (aka General Mills and Post) are releasing four new and two returning holiday cereals, so deck your halls and bough your hollies, because these festive flakes, Grinchy grains, and sugary dessert-inspired creations look pretty darn good this year, so of course we have to talk about it.

What are these new holiday cereals? What flavors could they possibly introduce that haven’t been done before? Frosted Frosty the Snowmen? Little tiny gingerbread houses? Unlucky Charms (Grinch flavored)?

The Grinch

Turns out one of the new 2025 holiday cereals coming soon to a store near you is Grinch flavored…well, themed. The new Grinch cereal looks like it comprises green, vanilla-flavored puffs (think Cocoa Puffs sized), that come with little pink marshmallows shaped like hearts. I’m personally stoked for this since marshmallows tend to get waterlogged and expand a bit in milk, so the Grinch’s heart really will grow at least one size in your bowl, and I think that’s pretty special.

Caramel Corn Chex

This next one is already out in stores, and if you guessed it was going to be Caramel Corn Chex, well then you would be correct! Not much to say about these other than that they are gluten-free and will likely taste like corn and sweet, toasty, caramelized sugar. If they are anywhere near as salty as some other corn Chex, then, gosh darn, these might just be a winner.

Mexican Style Hot Chocolate Cinnamon Toast Crunch

We are also getting a new Cinnamon Toast Crunch along with two returning CTC flavors. The returning flavors are Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch and Apple Pie Toast Crunch, both of which we tried back in 2022, both of which we liked a whole lot, and both of which are already in stores now. The new flavor looks even better, though. Yes, we are actually getting Mexican Style Hot Chocolate Cinnamon Toast Crunch this year, which I can only assume means cocoa added to Cinnamon Toast Crunch at the very least, and potentially a touch of cayenne (if a kids cereal brand decides to take things in a very unexpected direction, i.e. spicy cereal for kids). No matter how you slice it, I am stoked for all Cinnamon Toast Crunch has to offer this year, and doubly stoked to try this new cereal as soon as it comes out.

And lastly, we’ve got Sugar Cookie Honey Bunches of Oats! The description on the box still says “Sweetened Cereal with Oats and Honey,” but it shows little red and green sprinkle-looking bits in the cereal. I’d bet honey bunches of money that they are going to flavor this stuff up with vanilla so we end up with a cake batter-y flavor profile in the best possible way. This stuff is coming soon, so we haven’t tried it yet, but just you wait, the minute we do, I’m sure we will have honey bunches of thoughts about it.
