As Sporked’s preeminent truffle pig, I’ve got a sixth sense for new Lindt releases. I’ve actually been hearing rumors for months about a different truffle flavor launching later this year, but today’s topic snuck up on me. There are several categories of Lindt Lindor truffles, but the dessert-flavored variety is definitely one of the most unique. This ouroboros of a category includes truffles like Tiramisu, Cheesecake, Birthday Cake, Snickerdoodle, and now…Shortbread. Let’s dig into what the newest Lindt offering has to offer.
What’s different about the new Lindor truffle?
Per Lindt’s description, this buttery cookie-inspired truffle is made of a milk chocolate shell infused with shortbread cookie pieces, all surrounding a flavored milk chocolate center. Sign me up. And here’s a nice note worth mentioning: This cookie-infused treat is actually gluten-free. That’s a holiday miracle right there.
Where can I get Lindt Lindor Shortbread Truffles?
Last month, Good Housekeeping UK wrote that the new truffle “flavour” would be exclusive to the United Kingdom and bragged that the exclusivity was the best part. I’ve got bad news: I’ll be getting my American hands all over this ”choc/biccy hybrid” of a truffle. While the truffle did launch early in the UK, Lindt announced the flavor would also hit the States earlier this month.
Currently, it appears that the flavor will be exclusively available directly through Lindt, meaning you’ll need to order the truffles from their online store or visit one of their retail stores. While you’re there picking up these new Shortbread truffles, you can also pick any flavor of truffle to be mixed into a custom milkshake. If you’re extra nice to the workers, you can even ask to mix a couple flavors together. Lindt stores are a magical place.
What’s coming next from Lindt?
This can’t be a surprise considering how huge the trend is, but I did hear back at the Sweets & Snacks Expo that we should expect a Lindt Lindor Dubai Chocolate truffle pretty soon. Lindt has already released a Dubai chocolate bar, so the round creamy variant can’t be too far off. You know I’ll be updating my ranking of all the Lindt truffles with Shortbread and Dubai Chocolate when I can get my hands on them—stay tuned.
