The levels of hype? Unmeasurable. Let’s get into the details of this super-spicy leaked soda news. (The soda is not spicy; let’s not do that again.)

When is this new Mountain Dew flavor hitting shelves?

According to our reliable internal sources, we’ll be able to enjoy this new blue Mountain Dew as soon as New Year’s Day 2026. The release period appears to run through December 31st, 2026 and no further, so this is a limited-time-only release…slated for an entire year? I won’t say it’s unheard of, but this is certainly a strange release schedule.

Let’s talk more about the flavor of this new Mountain Dew

As mentioned above, Baja Blue Burst will be a mix of açaí, lychee, and blueberry. Is that unique for a soda? Well, açaí and blueberry are both mostly found in health-focused drinks rather than soda. Though at one point, there was even a Blueberry Açaí Diet Coke. As crazy as it sounds, lychee is the most “soda” affiliated fruit here in my mind. Lychee is a super popular flavor for Asian drinks like Ramune. I imagine Mountain Dew drew some inspiration from that range of drinks for this release.

What’s “Baja” about this new Mountain Dew flavor?

According to the description on the bottle, the original Baja Blast is “Tropical Lime” flavored. While I think any true Baja successor needs to include that lime as a start, I will say Baja Blue Burst’s combination feels appropriately tropical—or at least exotic.

I’m more confused about the release schedule. Historically, Mountain Dew’s Baja line has stuck to the summer season, but this is slated to be available for a full year? Mountain Dew Baja Blue Burst must be really good if they’re that confident in such a unique flavor combination.

Is this the only extension to the Baja subline coming next year?
