Hard Mountain Dew Code Red Is FINALLY Here

It’s been a tough road for Hard Mountain Dew. The spiked version of Mountain Dew (which comes in at 5% ABV) originally dropped in just a handful of states on 2/22/22 (aka 2sday). It continued rolling out—slowly but surely—one state at a time. And yet, many folks are still unaware it even exists.

But it does exist. It has existed. It will continue to exist. And now, there’s a new Hard Mountain Dew flavor joining the line-up—and it’s a big one. According to Super Soda Savant Team Supernova, Hard Code Red is finally coming and it’s replacing Hard Watermelon.

Hard Mountain Dew first showed off new Hard Code Red at NACS (an annual convenience store trade show) all the way back in 2023, however just a few months later it was reported that Boston Beer was fully taking the reins from Pepsi and the distribution system they’d created especially for Hard Mountain Dew. Largely, this meant that Hard Dew would start to release in more states at a much faster rate. At the time of publication Hard Mountain Dew is currently sold in over 40 states, signalling that this change was successful. But we never saw hide nor hair of Hard Mountain Dew Code Red.

So, what happened to Hard Code Red?

As you might have guessed, Hard Code Red never came out in 2024 like it was supposed to. Folks assumed that it had been cancelled as a result of Boston Beer taking over. However, out of absolutely nowhere, it was spotted in February of this year. Hard Mountain Dew had quietly released it with no fanfare.

What sizes does Hard Code Red come in, and where can I find it?

At this time it appears that Hard Code Red is only available in 24oz tall boy cans. Sources say that they expect Hard Code Red will replace Hard Watermelon in the variety pack soon—but we’re not sure when that changeover might happen.

The best way to find out where to buy Hard Mountain Dew Code Red (or any Hard Mountain Dew) in your area is to head over to Hard Dew’s trusty locator on their website.
