New Olipop Flavor! What We Know About the Pineapple-Flavored Spongebob Olipop

What’s square, yellow, and lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants! For a cartoon that’s been on the air since 1999, SpongeBob has done a pretty solid job of staying relevant, and with a new SpongeBob movie coming out in December, you’re sure to see his face pretty much everywhere in the coming months—including on soda cans.

For adults who got rid of their SpongeBob backpack and Patrick Star pajamas years ago, there’s a new way to tap into that nostalgia. Prebiotic soda brand Olipop just dropped Spongebob-themed bev called Olipop Pineapple Paradise.

So, what does the new Olipop flavor taste like?

Like a tropical paradise! Hopefully. Okay, fine—we haven’t actually tried it yet. But an official taste test is on the way! And we are Olipop veterans, having tasted and ranked 17 other flavors, so you can trust us to deliver a well-informed, possibly-too-passionate review. Based on its name alone, this new Olipop flavor sounds like a summer daydream. Early reviews have been mostly positive (the TikTok girlies are into it!), and honestly, the SpongeBob factor alone is enough to get people stocking up. Plus, it’s collectable. Even though Olipop traditionally comes in four-packs, there are five different can designs.

Is this the first character-themed Olipop?

It is not! Olipop celebrated Barbie’s 65th birthday in 2024 with a Barbie-themed Peaches & Cream Olipop, that was a massive hit, even though Sporked editor-in-chief Justine Sterling didn’t love how sweet it was. The flavor is still available now, though no longer in Barbie-themed cans.

Where can I score a can (or five)?

The new SpongeBob Olipop has already been spotted on Walmart shelves, but it’s not an exclusive release, so expect these to start popping up wherever you usually get your Olipop fix.

And hey—Olipop’s site is teasing a SpongeBob surprise in (checks countdown clock) five days and thirty-six minutes. No word yet on whether more flavors are coming, but the only hint is “Stay tuned for all kinds of fun!” To which we say: Okay, Olipop, this better be good.
