Daylight Saving = later daylight, but at the cost of an hour of sleep. Less sleep? You already barely have time and energy to get your coffee and your protein in. Enter: Premier Protein with a coffeehouse-inspired line of caffeinated protein shakes that prove they’re listening to the needs of the people. Their two new cafe-inspired flavors have the caffeine equivalent of a cup of coffee, but also include 30g of protein and no added sugar per serving.

Who is Premier Protein?

Premier Protein has established themselves by cranking out protein products including shakes (some of the best protein shakes if you ask us), cereals, and pancake mixes, so they’re no stranger to helping the public start their days right with delicious, protein-forward options. They’re adding onto their already-extensive list of flavors (like lemon bar, root beer float, and peaches & cream) with their newest launch, which includes mocha and caramel macchiato.

Why caffeinated protein shakes?

If you’re a zombie pre-coffee, replacing your regular coffee with this caffeinated protein shake could save your mornings. Maybe you wake up with lofty ambitions of recreating a viral #Proffee, only to realize that you don’t have the time or desire to mix up your own. Fair! You haven’t even had your coffee yet! Can you really be trusted to not mix up the protein powder for the baking powder?

Is protein really that important?

“But,” you say, “I’ve been drinking black coffee for breakfast for my whole life, I don’t need to hop on the protein bandwagon!” You might think you’re fine, but maybe ask the coworkers who deal with your mid-morning hangriness if you could stand to make a few changes. Studies suggest eating 25g-30g of protein at each meal, which can help keep you fuller longer, and support building and maintaining muscle. So, even if you do still get grumpy, at least you’ll have huge biceps you can admire before using them to type “per my last email,” for the 20th time.

Other benefits

These protein shakes are probably the easiest way to get a daily dose of protein, short of waiting for someone to invent a sleep sack that allows you to absorb the macronutrient in your sleep, or having someone motherbird chicken breast right into your mouth. Additionally, they also contain vitamins and minerals like vitamin C, calcium, and zinc, and are available nationwide at retailers like Walmart and Amazon. So, all in all? A pretty good option. Keep an eye out for our taste test of the new flavors coming soon!
