If the state of the world has you seeking out small victories and simple pleasures, we have great news: Six new Pringles flavors—including the first sweet Pringles flavor in over a decade (sort of)—are hitting stores in September. And, spoiler, they’re pretty good! The flavors we tried, anyway. There’s also a Sweet Mesquite BBQ flavor, but that wasn’t in our mailer—when we get those, we’ll add them to this roundup. In the meantime, we reviewed the three new Pringles flavors and two new Pringles Mingles flavors. There’s no better way to quell the rage than by eating chips!

New Pringles!

Pringles Mingles Cinnamon & Sugar

Pros: In 2016, Pringles released three sweet flavors—Sugar Cookie, Pecan Pie, and Salted Caramel. It was their last venture outside of the savory snack realm, until now. If you’ve spent the past decade dying for a sweet offering from the Pringles people, here ya go! These little bowtie-shaped puffs are coated in cinnamon sugar and have a little bit of a buttery flavor. There are definitely worse sweet treats out there, especially if you’re in the mood for something lighter than cookies or candy.

Cons: Real talk: None of us really love Pringles Mingles. The puffs, which are made of corn, are a little dense. I’ve heard people compare them to packing peanuts, and we don’t necessarily disagree. Frankly, it was hard to put our Mingles biases aside enough to enjoy the flavor.

jalapeno and queso pringles mingles review

New Pringles!

Pringles Mingles Jalapeno & Queso

Pros: These are very coated in a flavor dust with a strong jalapeno aroma. They’re also surprisingly spicy. If you’re more interested in jalapeno than queso (and you don’t have a Mingles aversion like we do) and you’re not a child (I can’t imagine many kids could tolerate the heat), these are pretty good. Despite our misgivings, we kept mindlessly munching on these.
Cons: Again, if you want a puff, you’re better off going with good puffcorn or regular ol’ cheese puffs. Flavor-wise, we didn’t think these really captured the flavor of “queso.” There’s a generic orange cheese flavor, but it’s totally overpowered by the fruity burst of jalapeno.

pringles sharp white cheddar review

New Pringles!

Pringles Sharp White Cheddar

Pros: When we did a blind taste test of these new Pringles flavors (okay, it wasn’t “blind,” but it was glasses-free), my colleague Jordan Myrick guessed that this new Pringles flavor specifically was white cheddar, and I think that means they nailed it. They definitely have that distinct white cheddar flavor, and the sharpness of an aged cheese.

Cons: Holy crap, these are salty. Yeah, they’re cheese-flavored potato crisps. They’re supposed to be salty. But taste these and tell me they don’t have you reaching for your 64oz Stanley.

pringles smoky bacon

New Pringles

Pringles Smoky Bacon

Pros: I don’t think these taste like bacon, but I also think that’s okay. What they do taste like is straight-up beef bullion and it’s pretty delicious. Jordan guessed these were “roast beef sandwich” flavored, but I’d go with “Italian beef sandwich dunked in au jus.” This was the new Pringles flavor I kept returning to, but I am deducting some Sporks since they don’t quite follow through on their porky promise.

Cons: Open the can. Take a whiff. What do you smell? Dog treats, right? Man, the aroma is straight-up Beggin’ Strips. If you can get past that, they really do taste good, even if they don’t taste like bacon.

New Pringles!

Pringles Smoky Cheddar

Pros: This new Pringles flavor has a strong cheddary bite and lots of smoke. Like the Sharp Cheddar Pringles, these are DAMN salty, but I know that appeals to plenty of chip eaters (like my salty-toothed colleague Ariana Losch).

Cons: These definitely have a little bit of a Beggin’ Strips thing going on, too. The smell is less repellant than the Smoky Bacon, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it put off some people.

About the Author

Gwynedd Stuart

Howdy! I’m Gwynedd, Sporked’s managing editor. I live in Los Angeles and have access to the best tacos the U.S. has to offer—but I’m a sucker for a crunchy Old El Paso taco night every now and then. I’ve been at Sporked since 2022 and I’m still searching frozen mozzarella sticks that can hold a candle to restaurant sticks. Why you should trust me: I’ve been a journalist for 20 years (yikes), a consumer of food for 40-plus years, and I’m truly hard pressed to think of foods I don’t like (or that I can’t tolerate at the very least). Oh and one time I cooked my way through Guy Fieri’s cookbook and wrote about the journey through Flavortown. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s Original Savory Thins. Fat free plain yogurt (usually Fage or Nancy’s). Honeycrisp apples. Sweet cream coffee creamer for my at-home Americanos. A frozen cauliflower crust pizza and some jarred mushrooms to top it with. Old El Paso Stand ‘N Stuff taco shells and Gardein Ground Be’f, even though I think “be’f” is a nightmarish contraction. Favorite ranking: Stouffer’s frozen dinners. I don’t own a microwave (I get my cancers the old fashioned way!), so I love taste testing things that I don’t really buy to eat at home. Least favorite ranking: Soy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love soy sauce—but consuming that much sodium in one sitting is probably illegal in some countries. Our frozen enchilada taste test was a close second; the smell of microwaved corn tortillas still haunts me.
