Tostitos isn’t out there dropping new flavors hither and thither like Doritos and Lay’s. New Tostitos products are much more of a rarity. So we’re honored to be hit with not one but two new Tostitos snack foods—and they both sound like they’ll be must-buys for next month’s “Big Game.” (You know what Big Game I’m talking about—don’t make me risk litigation by spelling it out.)

Say hello to Tostito’s Mexican Street Corn chips

While we don’t have much more than the packaging to go off of, I’d guess we’re dealing with an elote-flavored tortilla chip. What’s elote? It’s a classic Mexican street food. You grill corn on the cob until it’s nice and charred, then coat it with a creamy, tangy sauce, roll it in fresh, crumbly cotija cheese, and sprinkle it with chile powder or Tajin. It’s damn delicious.

But will it translate to a chip? As a Hint of Lime lover, I have high hopes. We know Tostistos can nail the tang. All they have to do is add a bit of powdered sour cream flavor, a little bit of spice, and maybe even some sweet corn flavor if they’re really swinging for the fences.

We can’t wait for Tostitos Jalapeno Popper dip

The other new Tostitos product that will be gracing game day spreads everywhere is Tostitos Jalapeno Popper dip. Again, we only have the packaging to look to for answers. And all the packaging tells us is that it’s medium spice. Aside from that, we just have to speculate.

So, what will jalapeno popper dip taste like? How will it be different from just jalapeno-spiked queso? My guess is that there could be more of a tangy flavor—a la cream cheese. And where will this dip land in our ranking of all the Tostitos dips? I’m excited to find out! Stay tuned for our official review of both of these new Tostitos products. They’re both launching “soon.”

Justine Sterling

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
