There are so many THC seltzers to choose from, with each brand trying to stand out with bold flavors, from craft cocktail-tasting combinations like lemon and lavender, to trying to recreate sugary classics. But sometimes less is more. Case in point: Nice Cannabis, the LaCroix of THC drinks.

I’ve tried a lot of THC seltzers, from Cycling Frog to Uncle Arnie’s, but none of them have tasted anywhere near as good as regular old seltzer. Except one: Nice Cannabis. These canned THC drinks come pretty darn close to LaCroix. But how close is close? I conducted head-to-head tastings of LaCroix flavors and Nice Cannabis’ versions to find out.
What is Nice Cannabis?
Since 2020, Nice Cannabis has been operating in North Carolina, starting out only offering flower before expanding to vapes, as well as THC-infused gummies and seltzers. The seltzer selection is focused on natural fruit flavors: Lemon, Strawberry Kiwi, Mango, and Watermelon Gummy. Each comes in either 10mg or 50mg — except Mango, which is only available in 50mg.
My local bodega only had Lemon, Strawberry Kiwi, and Mango. To accurately see how well they compared to LaCroix, I got the beloved seltzer’s Lemon and Mango flavors. While they didn’t have a Strawberry Kiwi LaCroix, the closest one available for comparison was Strawberry Peach.
Lemon LaCroix vs. Lemon Nice Cannabis
LaCroix’s lemon flavor is subtle. Meanwhile, Nice uses “natural flavoring” and promises on its site that it’s made with “zero artificial junk,” being “as refreshing and natural as it gets.” It tastes like it’s made with natural lemon juice, which masks the THC extract well, but it has a slightly earthy aftertaste that lingers. It lingered longer than I would’ve liked, but it wasn’t bad.
Mango LaCroix vs. Mango Nice Cannabis
To me, Mango is one of the best LaCroix flavors because it’s so sweet for a zero-calorie seltzer. Needless to say, the expectations for Nice Cannabis’ Mango seltzer were high (no pun intended). While Mango LaCroix tastes like the remaining juice in an empty sliced mango container, Nice Cannabis’ Mango seltzer tastes like pureed mango juice with bubbles. They’re very different, but I enjoyed both.
Strawberry Peach LaCroix vs. Strawberry Kiwi Nice Cannabis
Unlike the Lemon Nice Cannabis and the Mango Nice Cannabis, which are both 60 calories, this Nice flavor has zero calories. The lack of sugar makes the Kiwi Strawberry seltzer’s flavors a lot subtler than the rest, which works to the seltzer’s advantage because it feels lighter. If I hadn’t tasted the peach in the Strawberry Peach LaCroix, I wouldn’t be able to tell them apart in a blind taste test.
Are the Nice Cannabis seltzers worth trying?
After testing all three Nice flavors, I decided to stick with Strawberry Kiwi. I had half, as I needed to be functional after getting high in the middle of a workday. It was a pleasant, giggly, relaxing high that wasn’t too intense, but still made me sink into my couch.
The Nice Cannabis seltzers are a bit sleepier than you’d want a THC seltzer to be while socializing, but they work well for when you’ve had a long day and need to unwind.
