One Hamburger Helper Question Completely Backfired On Reddit

Hamburger Helper took to Reddit to ask a simple question. “Reddit, settle this: What’s the best Helper flavor?” This was through a promoted post which seems to not quite make its way to the right audience. There were a wide range of answers though so let’s sort through what we’ve got.

Showing Their True Thoughts

People were not afraid to show their true feelings on Hamburger Helper as a brand. One of the highest (actually semi-serious) comments included, among other things, “F*ck you hamburger helper!” The same comment did share actual thoughts of how the Hamburger Helper of yesteryear has gone down in quality. Which is valid. Really, what food hasn’t gone down in quality these days?

“​​F you bro Hamburger Helper still slaps, just gotta make the cheeseburger macaroni or beef pasta kind.” Okay, see! We got an actual response in the replies to the above comment. That was quickly followed up by another comment though that had other ideas of the brand. “My favorite hamburger helper flavor is silicon dioxide. The whole meal hits differently when you get those subtle notes of sand in your pasta.” Yikes.

Sad News For The Next Generation

That comment about sand in your pasta also went on to talk about something actually deep. “Hamburger helper has been shit for several decades now. The enshitification of end stage capitalism is a real shit show. My children will never know the deliciousness of OG HH and that’s very sad.” What is our food landscape going to look like when our kids are growing up? Will they ever know true joy and happiness? Or just have to taste whatever slop makes corporations the highest profit? It’s a sad fate we’re heading towards.

Favorites That Got Discontinued

Another set of actual comments to be found were those who talked about the flavors that they once loved that eventually got discontinued. Crunchy Taco, Potato Stroganoff, and Pizza Skillet were a few of those mentioned. However I’m starting to notice just how hard this attempt to connect backfired for Hamburger Helper. I haven’t actually seen a thoroughly serious answer that mentioned a flavor that was still in production. Whoopsie!

Brands Beware

The greatest lesson to learn here is that brands just need to stay in their lane. You can talk to your cutesy little audiences that follow and support you but do not overstep. Redditors do not like it when you enter their space and they, behind their anonymity, are not afraid to go after you for your mistakes.
