Did we all have a good April 1, guys? Who got pranked? Go on, admit it, there’s no shame in it. The morning of April Fools’ Day is usually rife with internet lols, particularly from companies that spy a nifty little opportunity to tie in some promotion. Yesterday it was the turn of Panda Express, which stated that it would be replacing its soda fountains with milk dispensers, due to the intense heat of its new Buldak Dynamite Sweet and Sour Chicken.

Oh, how we laughed! Naturally, Panda Express’s announcement was all revealed to be a big ol’ prank – but what isn’t a prank is the fact that they are actually giving away free milk. No, seriously. And it starts today. Here’s what we know.
Panda Express’s free milk giveaway
Panda Express announced its milk giveaway on its Instagram and other socials channels, by first running a recap of the milk dispenser gag and the comments that responded to it (which were generally some kind of variation of “this is a joke, right?”), before hitting us with the caption “April Fool’s (kind of).” Then it dropped the bomb that starting April 2, an order of Buldak Dynamite Sweet and Sour Chicken in its stores would come with a free 14-oz bottle of Fairlife milk. “Panda pulled a little April Fools’ prank… and now we owe you one,” it says on its website, which also has a store locator to find the places giving away milk. You don’t owe us anything, Panda Express, but thanks all the same.
This, of course, is due to the heat of the chicken, which, according to reviews, is genuinely pretty spicy (which probably isn’t a surprise – the ramen company specializes in making wildly hot noodle flavors). Panda Express isn’t playing with this one. Bear in mind that it’s only doing this in participating locations, so if you’ve got your mind totally set on free milk, then make sure you’re heading to the right place.
Panda Express wasn’t the only brand that succeeded in pranking a few people yesterday: There were a ton of “new” products announced that we’re sure had the companies who came up with them in stitches. Halls Grandma’s Purse Flavored Drops, Stella Rosa Pickle Wine, and a Pop-Tarts Cheddar Bay Biscuit Toaster Pastry were just a few of the items that were teased yesterday before being snatched away. Some of them, like that pickle wine, we’re not that sad about…but why is the thought of a cheddar bay biscuit toaster strudel making us kinda hungry…?
How long can you get free milk at Panda Express?
There’s no word yet on when Panda Express will stop running this promo; so far, it’s only said that it’s going to continue “while supplies last.” This could be a matter of days, so if you want to be one of the lucky few to have one, get on down there.
