Remember back in January when we talked about Pepsi dipping its toes into the prebiotic soda game?
What we didn’t know then, when we were wondering why Pepsi would bother launching its own “healthy soda” instead of just acquiring a smaller brand (buzzy upstarts, Olipop and Poppi), was that they were actually doing both.
Yep, Pepsi went ahead and bought Poppi and is still launching its own line of prebiotic Pepsi flavors!
What’s the difference between Poppi and this new prebiotic Pepsi?
Good question! Pepsi announced its $2 billion acquisition of Poppi just four months ago. Despite the buyout, Poppi will reportedly continue to operate independently (or so says Pepsico).
But the question remains: Why would Pepsi launch their own prebiotic soda line?
One theory: Prebiotic Pepsi is distinctly prebiotic cola.
Poppi’s cola flavor isn’t a best-seller (their fruity flavors get more love), and Pepsi seems to think there’s still untapped potential in a cola-flavored prebiotic soda—if they nail the taste.
How does Pepsi Prebiotic Cola stack up against other prebiotic sodas?
Based on what we know so far, Pepsi’s prebiotic sodas will follow the standard playbook: 30 calories, 5g of sugar, 3g of prebiotic fiber.
Basically, it’s in the same ballpark as Poppi or Olipop when it comes to health stats.
What prebiotic flavors is Pepsi launching?
Pepsi’s debuting two flavors of its new prebiotic soda: the classic Original Cola and Cherry Vanilla.
They’re promising the same familiar Pepsi flavor, just with a “better-for-you” twist thanks to added prebiotics. Whether it actually tastes good? That’s still TBD—we’re holding our judgment until we get our hands on a can (and you know we’ll report back).
When and where can I get new Pepsi Prebiotic Cola?
Pepsi’s new prebiotic colas are expected to launch online this fall, with wider retail availability likely following in early 2026. Will this be the new Hot Girl Fall beverage of choice? Honestly, no idea—but we’ll be watching (and sipping) closely.
