It seems like this is turning out to be the year that chains really tune into what people are saying about their classics. Big brands responding to what fans want happens all the time – you only have to look at M&M’s bringing back its flavor vote a couple weeks ago to see that – but that usually results in limited-time items, not changes to the big ones.

So far in 2026, though, we’ve had Burger King changing up its Whopper in response to customer feedback, and now it’s Pizza Hut’s turn. The pizza chain has just announced that it’s altering its Hand-Tossed pizza crust recipe for the first time in more than a decade. Please don’t mess this up, guys. Here’s what it’s doing.

More Bounce, More Bite

According to Pizza Hut, its new Hand-Tossed pizza crust “delivers a lighter, airier bite with just the right balance of softness and crisp.” It’ll also now be hit with an extra touch of seasoning, with Pizza Hut’s Garlic-Parm Hut Blend, giving each bite of the crust a buttery, cheesy, salty, garlicky edge. Okay, that does sound kinda good – and other places do the same thing, so maybe Pizza Hut’s just moving with the times on this one.

Pizza Hut is shining a light on its new crust with a big old ad campaign, which features a version of Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” playing in the background, while its Garlic-Parm Hut Blend is daubed onto the new and improved pizza. It’s also doing so with its new Hut Crust deal, giving people the opportunity to get a large three-topping pizza in three of its crusts (including the new and improved Hand-Tossed one) for just $10. This one’s only available for a limited time, so snap it up while you can.

Get Paid to Eat Pizza

All of this advertising and recipe-changing is encompassed in what Pizza Hut calls its new “platform,” Hut Crust, which aims to bring attention to the dough itself. “Crust is the heart of a great pizza,” said Pizza Hut’s CMO Melissa Friebe, and as such, the chain celebrates what all good ‘zas are built on.

For one lucky person, they could be celebrating it every day. Perhaps the highest-profile part of the Hut Crust campaign is Pizza Hut’s revelation of its new Hut Crust Connoisseur position, which was appropriately announced just in time for Pi Day. If you win this role, you become a taste-tester for its new crusts and get paid a princely sum of – you guessed it! – $31,415.92 a year.

As with Wendy’s new Chief Tasting Officer position, this is very much all about getting people to shout about its new crusts to promote them, and we’ve gotta say that the money’s way worse at Pizza Hut. But look, we can think of less appealing ways to spend our days. Think you’re what Pizza Hut’s looking for? You can apply here.
