Ah, Powerade. The off-brand Gatorade of McDonald’s soda fountain machines. The blue elixir that also comes in other flavors besides blue, which I don’t care to acknowledge. The sports Kool-Aid of our dreams.
Well, hold onto your hats because our beloved Powerade is turning Power-ade into Power Water. Starting in select markets this month, we can get Powerade Power Water. And we, the sports drink disciples, have many questions.
What is “power water?” Is it flavored? Sweetened?
Power Water is a zero-sugar electrolyte drink that claims to have 50% more electrolytes than leading competitors. It is a “functional water,” meaning it is a flavored water with functional ingredients (aka electrolytes and vitamins).
The clear liquid comes in four flavors: Mountain Berry Blast, Strawberry Kiwi, Tropical Pineapple, and Watermelon. But is Power Water “zero sugar” as in unsweetened, or “zero sugar” as in artificially sweetened? Well, I did some snooping, and the ingredients list on Powerade’s website does contain a couple of artificial sweeteners, so I would guess these drinks will be at least slightly sweet–we’ll find out once we can get our hands on them!
When will Power Water be available?
Powerade is releasing these bad boys in select stores this month (October 2026), and then they will be available nationwide via Amazon starting in 2026. So, if you are a die-hard Powerade fan but want a lower sugar, higher electrolyte experience to take with you to the pickleball court, the running track, or the steps of your fifth-story walk-up apartment (condolences, my guy), then stay tuned and see if these hit stores in your area soon!
