It seems like a missed opportunity for the creators of National Hot Dog Day should have used the obvious connection to make the day July 4th. Are you allowed to double up like that? Maybe not. As it currently stands (we may yet get it changed), the holiday lands on July 15th.

One absolutely unexpected company has come up with a creation to celebrate the occasion and I promise you, you would not be able to guess it if I gave you a hundred tries. To save you the trouble, it’s Pringles.
Yes, really. I couldn’t make that up if I tried.
Pringles-Flavored Hot Dog Buns
Pringles is dropping a first of its kind custom line of can-sized potato based buns. I’ll give you some time to process that. These things are real: I’m looking at them right now. With fear in my eyes but I have to admit, a desire in my stomach. I love hot dogs in every form. I may be a little scared of these but at their core, they’re just hot dog buns so how badly could they mess that up?
The Pringles Pop Dog Buns are infused with iconic Pringles flavors. There are three flavors currently available: Sour Cream & Onion, BBQ, and Honey Mustard. Does that mean we may get more in the future? I don’t know but I wanted to hedge my bets by leaving the possibility open. Pringles aims to give the traditional hot dog bun a massive flavor upgrade.
Was The Upgrade Necessary?
A quote from the great philosopher Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum’s character in Jurassic Park) comes to mind. “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.” Did the hot dog bun itself need to be upgraded? As a hot dog lover myself, I tend to think of that being a job for the toppings themselves. There’s nothing wrong with a bun that’s there to just hold things together while you load the actual flavor on top.
Nonetheless, upgraded hot dog buns are here so we have to at least try them. If you want to upgrade your summer cookouts, backyard grilling, or baseball watch parties, these limited edition buns will be available to fans in two online drops: Wednesday, July 8th and Wednesday, July 15th at 12PM ET. To be ready for these limited drops, fans will need to sign up at OnceYouPopMarket.com.
