Ragú. The pasta sauce known lovingly as “No, not Prego, the other one!” The pasta sauce that stands out in the pasta aisle with its bright yellow label. The pasta sauce drippin’ so much sauce that it got name-dropped by Lizzo back in 2019. And it isn’t just pasta sauce, they also make pizza sauce (which we happen to count among the best jarred pizza sauces). But y’all? Ragú is branching out. Lost in the sauce no longer, they have somehow found their way out of said sauce and into the freezer aisle, where they are making a grand entrance with not one, not two, but four different Ragú frozen pizzas all featuring pizza sauce “inspired” by the classic Ragú Pizza sauce.

What Ragú frozen pizza flavors can we expect? If I put some pasta with Ragú sauce in the middle of one of these pizzas, fold it in half, and smash it with a hammer call I call that experience Thor Ragú-narok?

I’ll answer the second question first, absolutely. You have to live out your Marvel movie/pasta sauce-related dreams, and I’ve always said that.

As for what flavors Ragú Pizza comes in, they kept it classic with Cheese, Combination, Pepperoni, and Supreme. Each pizza has a “Ragú-inspired sauce” that we can only assume is very similar to their classic pizza sauce, since there is an image of that pizza sauce jar on all the frozen pizza boxes. The Pepperoni just has mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and the ever-iconic aforementioned sauce. The Cheese pizza has the sauce along with provolone, white cheddar, and mozzarella. The Supreme has, of course, THE Ragú inspired sauce, as well as Italian sausage, pepperoni, black olives, green and red bell peppers, onions, and mozzarella. The Combination pizza has Italian sausage, pepperoni, and—and I cannot stress this enough—Ragú-inspired pizza sauce.

These may not be the most groundbreaking frozen pizza flavors out there, but hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it (and certainly don’t use any sauce other than a Ragú-inspired pizza toppin’ champ). The pizzas are made in collaboration with frozen pizza company Palermo Villa, which is also responsible for such hits as Palermo’s Pizza, Screamin’ Sicilian (whose pepperoni we LOVE), Urban Pie Pizza Co. (whose cauliflower crust we thought was pretty spot on), Surfer Boy (the Stranger Things Pizza collab from a few years back), and Connie’s Pizza, so they know their pizza, the question is, does Ragú?

We are all about to find out since these pizzas hit stores in “early May,” which, if you hadn’t noticed, is right the heck now. So if you are a die-hard Ragú fan, a frozen pizza fan, or just a curious soul who wants to know if they should nix both the delivery and the DiGiorno, then go ahead and give these new pizzas a try when you see them; they should be in a store near you. Plus, you can impress/terrify all the strangers in the frozen aisle by whispering to yourself “It’s not Uber eats, its Ragu-ber eats” as you pull one of these bad boys out of the freezer to make them think they have entered a different timeline where up is down, down is up, and there is no DiGiorno at your local Safeway.
