Last November, I revealed that internal sources within the Red Bull machine confirmed the flavor of Red Bull Spring Edition 2026: Cherry Sakura. This sent waves through the energy drink community, many of whom (including me) have spent good money importing past Japanese Red Bull flavors. I didn’t rest on those laurels, though; I’ve been looking into the rumor that we’ll see a second Japanese Red Bull flavor hit U.S. shelves in 2026. As of today, I’m confident that the information I’ve received is correct. It’s time to reveal the flavor of Red Bull Summer Edition 2026.

What flavor is Red Bull Summer Edition 2026?

Red Bull has decided the flavor of summer 2026 is Sudachi Lime. While Red Bull has released lime-flavored editions in a few countries, this will be the first time a Red Bull is explicitly advertised as “Sudachi” flavored. We’ll cover what a sudachi actually is in the next section, but I do have some less-than-great news to share first.

I’ve heard from multiple sources that Red Bull is cracking down on details of seasonal Editions leaking to the public early. Flavor names are being held back until the last possible moment, and calendars are filled with “For Placement Only” placeholders rather than actual product renders. Basically, Red Bull isn’t too happy that confidential information is hitting my desk earlier than it should—and I can’t really fault them. Whatever they’re doing must be working too; while I learned about this year’s Spring Edition six months early, I’m only learning about Summer Edition 2026 three months early.

What is a sudachi?

Sudachi is a Japanese citrus fruit popularly used as a flavoring in place of lemon or lime. Genetically, the sour fruit is a cross between a yuzu and a Koji or mandarin orange. Much like “Cherry Sakura,” “Sudachi Lime” feels like an attempt to familiarize the U.S. audience with a foreign flavor by using a familiar flavor in the name.

When will Red Bull Summer Edition 2026 hit shelves?

If you’re looking forward to Cherry Sakura Red Bull, this answer might disappoint you. Per a few different sources, it sounds like Red Bull Summer Edition 2026 will hit shelves in late April. If true, that means that this year’s Spring Edition will have a comparatively short run of less than two months! If I hear otherwise, I’ll report on it here! So, stay tuned.

Last time I grabbed a Red Bull, I couldn’t imagine a Japanese zest joining the lineup! Does this mean novelty…? I’ll keep an eye on the release in April!

  • I’ve actually tried sudachi in Japanese dishes before, and it has a sharper, more aromatic citrus kick than lime—so this could be a really refreshing twist for summer. fnf

From Cherry Sakura to Sudachi Lime, it seems like Red Bull is going all-in on Japanese-inspired flavors for 2026. As someone who has zero self-control when it comes to seasonal energy drink releases, I’m both excited and slightly worried—will a sudachi (a citrus fruit that’s somewhere between yuzu and mandarin) be too tart for an energy drink?

What I find most intriguing is the mention of “Red Bull cracking down on leaks.” Going from a 6-month early scoop to just 3 months suggests their secrecy efforts are working. But let’s be real, these “insider leaks” are also pretty brilliant marketing, aren’t they? Every time I read one of these articles, I find myself unconsciously checking store shelves for the new flavors.

My only concern: if the Summer Edition drops in late April, that means the Spring Cherry Sakura will only be around for less than two months? I might not even get tired of it before they switch things up! Red Bull is really speeding up the rotation this year 😅

Looking forward to the taste test in April!
